Winners are grinners so they say....BUT if I hear comebacks like "feel my denim" there may be a case to reconsider the media ban!!!

Love to see and hear banter - as long as it is effective and humerous......"feel my denim"!!! how about you feel my bitch slap for such a lame response......

PS. No comeback required......

Cove may bleat about no Vick and Gill but I can't think of any other key players missing. Bombers also without at least 4 regular A graders and we had two 19 year olds with one A grade game between them.

Game look balanced at quarter time but we ouscored Cove 5 goals to 2 against breeze in 2nd quarter and then kicked 11 to 1 in 3rd. Bombers absolutely carved up the Cove midfield with Johnstone, Brookman, King and new recruit Hunter having a picnic. Tucker and Sneezer finished the work off with 10 between them.

Great start by the Bombers but still early doors. We had a bad start to last season and busted our guts with big wins late in season just to make top 4. I think we used up our petrol tickets come finals so hopefully we can position ourselves better this year without playing catch-up.

Hope to see a big SFL crowd at our Friday night game at Happy Valley this Friday night. Game starts at 7.45pm.

Can i ask who's bright idea it was to move a game away from ANZAC day? Surely if anything they could've organised a night game on the saturday. Any reasoning behind the decision to play friday night and not on ANZAC day? I personnally cannot wait to pull the boots on and do battle on April 25!

A few individuals getting very excited mid April brings a smile to my face... they couldn't be from Reynella, could they?
As an ex insider, now outsider who probably should've, but didnt watch the game if i could just say, it's quite understandable he was outcoached in the way he neglected certain players... its more than likely gonna happen when u put a coach who has been a part of that league for several years against one who has been in a separate league for the last ten+. Player identification is what the first 5-10 games are for, assessing ur opposition so to speak. Then the real stuff begins, down the stretch and into the finals. I'd be shocked if he didnt learn from this. From my experience, he can coach.
Its also understandable to hear milo dominated, he is a quality player... When Smithers is at the other end of the ground.
Seems like its going to be a hotly contested season in the top echelon....
Has any1 seen my boots?

I tend to disagree there Deemu, I think the boys were happy but we are definitely not getting carried away. I think most of the excitement has come from people from other clubs who I guess expected Reynella to lose yesterday.

Don't listen to Hot Dogs. Happy Valley have previously asked about our clubs playing a Friday night game and when the draw was done we were keen especially with high chance of good weather in April. Both our clubs are also keen to explore the option of playing some C grade games other than on Sunday. So we have arranged with SFL to programme Rd 1 C grade HV vs BB so that we can switch the match to Saturday to follow the B grade game. Its called lateral thinking from smart progressive clubs.

Every side takes two. That's what the first weekend with only two matches was all about ----- eleven sides were taking their "other" bye.

my theory is, and someone correct me if i'm wrong, but.........

there is an uneven number of teams, therefore someone has to have a bye. if it wasnt marion, it was only going to be someone else.

I can see where you are comin from there WLF, ANZAC day is just about the proudest day to pull on the boots for any footballer. Then missing heritage round as well thats just a kick in the pants. My suggestion get down to a dawn service and have a beer with a Digger in the morning thats what I'd be doing if I didn't have to play. Then you could go watch Aldinga beat M/Ville in a cracker at SHARK PARK. ;) ;)

Best thing I've heard of from the weekend is how Early has got the entire Winefly club in dress code. Apparently from 14's to A's they had black slacks and the club polo. This to me is a sign of committment and unity and it shows that Early is dead set on setting the Flies straight.

Well done. :ymapplause:

This is something we looked/ looking at and it doesn't have to be so formal but certainly makes them stand out.

It's not a right to play on Anzac Day it's a priviledge previous years Grand Finalist should be the only teams playing that day but as it falls on a saturday it's understandable to have everyone play. If Anzac Day was Sunday only Cove and Morphies would be playing.

Correct ZC about Anzac Day. We are all proud of the Anzac's but lets not get too sentimental. Some of you guys are suggesting its a great honor to play on Anzac Day. How would you know unless you play for MV, Rey or Brighton. This is the first time Anzac Day has fallen on a Saturday since 1998. I'm sure when Anzac Day falls on a weekday most of us get on the slops the night before and have a good sleep in on Anzac morning, waking up well after dawn. Is that showing respect? I think we've been a bit brainwashed by the Essendon / Collingwood stuff as to the honor of playing on that day. The significnace of the day should not be diminshed if you're playing footy or not and I'd hate to think that any of my clubs footballers will put an extra effort in on Anzac Day than they would in any other game for points or a final. Comparing footy to war and the Anzac's is always a bit iffy.
