Doug Fitzpatrick retired after the game on Saturday. Been at the club since 1991, won B&Fs, numerous Runner Ups, numerous Best Team Man and Best Utility awards.

Hes a Hackham Life Member, along with his two older brothers. We're really lucky to have 3 brothers that are all Life Members. I dont know how many other clubs have that but we are really proud of it. (Dont tell Greg I said that or I will hunt you down!!! )

Ive only been at hackham since last season and am really sad to see him hang up the boots. Was trying to convince him during the game not to retire. Gonna really miss him out on the field. Im glad I at least got to play a few games with Juddy!!!

we are ready every week. it doesnt matter how you are training it is wether or not you take it out on to the park and have an impact. there are 18 players on the field, so there is no point in concentrating on just the one. we will see what happens on sat it is all good and well to sit here and say we will win but we have to do the talking on the park and put 4 good quarters together. should be an interesting day ;)

I think its mainly to concentrate on work...and he has his first little juddy coming along now too. I am actually spewin hes retired. I tried to talk him out of it all Saturday night too...so did his wife.

I dont think hes carrying any injuries at the moment.

I never meant not play how you train. what i was meaning is you can go out and train the house down and then come sat and not get a touch. training is one of the main parts of footy but to be competitive it comes down to a saturday afternoon and how you stick to your game plan etc.

I think that was a reference to how the opposition are training wasn't it ?
If so, you can't get much more positive than that. Go for it Hawks !

Just as long as you don't rate your coach from what he does at training....even though I was right about Early Cyclops! ;)

also what i was saying if you really think you are a chance you might want to do some home work on this bloke coz he may have a big saturday yes it starts in the midfield but if he gets his hands on it look out. just a heads up thought it might get some sort of reaction. all positive from me hope its a close game of high standard.

Believe it or not we have had some really good quarters, even a great first half at Adlinga...i think the concentration in our team drops, the lack of fitness kicks in, then the other team kicks away a bit and we lose all momentum and morale goes down. Im sure if we can keep in touch up until 3 qtr time the last qtr would be a belter and we'd rise to the occasion. Just a matter of time. But i think the effort put in really needs to go to the next level for the whole game. Theres passages and quarters where we're doing well, then it just drops away and we're as good as useless. Ive gotta say that was the worst Ive felt about any game on the way back to Hackham after losing to Dingys by 20+ goals. Shouldve been a way more competitive game after half time...

Rant over...

I only just read last weeks Boot for the first time and the write up about Hackham is really encouraging. If you havent read it, here it is....

Another massive losing margin has the Hackham Hawks redhot favourites to keep their stranglehold on the wooden spoon. When a club is in this horrid situation the only course is to look for encouraging signs.
One such sign that they can definitely take on board is that in each of their past two games there have been periods in which they have made their much stronger opposition dig deep to establish or re-establish their authority.
Last week the Saints found themselves up against a surprisingly more competitive Hawks after the halftime break. The home side was kept to just nine goals over the second half which for Hackham is a colossal effort. And a week earlier Noarlunga, the Shoes were held goal-less for the first ten minutes.
Some will cry "small potatoes", but the greatest mansions were started with a single brick. Lets hope that over time they can find some more of these to stack on top.
