Some post a couple of weeks ago mentioned some Thomas bloke from tailem Bend returning to play at Morphy Park. Please tell me this wasnt the guy running around in the 2's on saturday against M Vale. He wasnt worth the space on the oval he was occupying.

Spanner, you might want to ask them a question for me, as an official i couldn't approach them on Saturday.
In the B Grade game when M/Vale were kicking with the wind, how come there was 2 balls being used ?
Pretty sure you can only replace a ball if the match ball you are using is lost or in a tree etc, etc, but when someone was collecting the ball that is still in the ground and the field ump goes and grabs the other one, i'm not sure if that is in the rules.

Only 1 ball was being used, a few times the ball was kicked into the creek behind the oval and it takes for ever for someone to bring it back to the full back to kick it out....... as you can imagine the players were standing around for ages and were requesting another ball be sent out to get the game going again. no issue here and the umpires had nothing to do with it!

Yeah i know there was a couple of times there that the ball went into the creek, but there was also a couple of times when the ball wasn't in the creek and the other ball was grabbed.
At the end of the day we were beaten by a better side, but % for & against could play a factor in our chances of making 8.

Good point not sure about official rule.
In my time have seen it happen lots of times and be it an advantage or not as a player would prefer it so the game keeps going hated waiting around with game time being wasted.
I would also help if the player kicking out didnt waste time getting the ball by walking very slowly to pick it up then slowly back to the goal.

I believe this was brought up at the start of the year at an umpires meeting and the umpires said they thought there was no rule in place to stop sides using a "second" ball that was behind the goals allowing both sides to do this if they wish. Not sure if i agree with it but i think this is the case.

If this is something you are worried about I suggest reviewing your goal umpire.

No malice intended but he did seem a bit out of his depth at times.

Who is this dean bloke? I dont think he would have made a huge difference as the cove midfield smash noarlunga thats where the game was won. Would need more than 1 player to change this result.

Craig Heath BOG in last years GF has taken some screamers every year that was a great grab. Coves biggest problem is that of a Hawthorn they get back key players Ramsey, Weiderman, Dutch but lose more D Reavill, Bornlom, still no Platten. If they can get everyone on the park will be quality again only really missing Gill from last year. Say Kart you weren't standing out in the trees watching Noarlunga closely for a future clash where you? ;)

Personally, I think it's ridiculous that the B-Grade teams feel the need to waste time, sometimes even without the wind, just to avoid a flogging!
Your there to play footy, because you WANT to be there, and your not going to get any better standing around running down a clock.
The tactic is far too negative, and for the B-Grade to improve this is not the way to go.

When I played full back WLF it was a legitimate tactic whenever the opposition had a strong breeze. No use rushing to get the ball back into play. Far too negative? you obviously havent been on the end of a 25+ goal flogging... by the end of the game the full back cant even kick out as a) his hammy is strained from too many kicks and b) his neck is strained from watching the footy go over his head! ;)

Seriously most teams have a volunteer behind the goals when you have the breeze- the 2 ball option is just smart I reckon!

agree with mateeg here.

playing for dingy, i've been on the wrong end of a few beltings, and wasting time whilst in the 2's was always a good tactic. if the ball dribbled over the boundry line, give it a bit of a toe poke into the car park, never jump the fence yourself to retrieve a ball that has just been kicked through for a behind and so on and so on.......

Sorry Elf, what you are saying does not make any sence whatso ever. first of all, if simon dean is so over rated and piss weak and (Quote) use guy's are getting rid of mentally soft cancer. why would use guy's be so worried about him coming back to the shoe and want to still have meetings with him. also if you know so much please name the players you think are over paid and over rated at the shoe. as i dont know how you would know who gets what????????????????????

You idiot!!!
If you are going to make statements get them right!
Simon was chased aggressively by SA late last season and with our blessing went out to SA pre season and with all reports was leading in all drills and time trials.
Simon was on track to play early in the season but has had issues with a hamstring something Simon has not had previosly! beside the injury Simon had issues with some in the senior squad that feel they are better than they are and the egos that go on down there(are you one of these??) this from a quality and down to earth lad. He approached the senior coach and explained his issues and asked to come back to Noarlunga to enjoy his footy. Simon was informed to have a couple of weeks away and if he still felt the same they would release him. Simon went back and informed the coach and footy ops that his decission had not changed and he wanted to play at the Shoe. South Adelaide said NO we will not release you and you will continue your footy at SA?
Well what do you think that did for the kid?
We approached SA with this issue and got nowhere so we looked at all avenues including talking with SANFL /Community football ops/SFL and also legal advise.
After taking all advise we informed SA that we would play Simon on the week end and named him.SA contacted us on Thursday night and asked to see Simon on Friday to as they say support him? After the meeting with Simon they again informed Simon and NFC that they would not release him but if he had a few weeks away and still felt the same they would release him back to NFC(heard this somewhere b4) we were still prepared to play Simon but Simon was not prepared to put the footy club in this position.

Now lets talk about your comments."South is moving in the right direction(mate you can only go one way, UP as there is no one below you as normal you idiot)by getting rid of piss weak cancers like Dean."Well the FACTS are and if you do know the facts players are walking out IN NUMBERS!! are they all piss weak and cancers OR could the problem lay in your backyard???

As for your comments regarding Simons abilty, this is a lad that played 2 years of teal cup footy had AFL clubs talking to him until 3 seasons ago when he had a knee recon. After the knee op Simon asked to come and have a run with NFC and we questioned his decission but where more than happy to have Simon on board who won our BF in 08!

So I guess you are one of the ego's that Simon pointed out or just another wan a be that has shit loads at a club that has done jack for years with the same old line we are rebuilding. WAKE UP SA AND HAVE A GOOD LOOK AT YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!

Oh come on guys think your being a little harsh on South Adelaide here! They did make the grand final in both As and Bs back in about 1979. They will have the 30 year reunion for that this year wouldnt they! They have also played finals once in the last 10-15 years so they are going ok! Give them a break! They are a strong SANFL club not like centrals!
