Simon was chased aggressively by SA late last season and with our blessing went out to SA pre season and with all reports was leading in all drills and time trials.
Simon was on track to play early in the season but has had issues with a hamstring something Simon has not had previosly! beside the injury Simon had issues with some in the senior squad that feel they are better than they are and the egos that go on down there(are you one of these??) this from a quality and down to earth lad. He approached the senior coach and explained his issues and asked to come back to Noarlunga to enjoy his footy. Simon was informed to have a couple of weeks away and if he still felt the same they would release him. Simon went back and informed the coach and footy ops that his decission had not changed and he wanted to play at the Shoe. South Adelaide said NO we will not release you and you will continue your footy at SA?
Well what do you think that did for the kid?
We approached SA with this issue and got nowhere so we looked at all avenues including talking with SANFL /Community football ops/SFL and also legal advise.
After taking all advise we informed SA that we would play Simon on the week end and named him.SA contacted us on Thursday night and asked to see Simon on Friday to as they say support him? After the meeting with Simon they again informed Simon and NFC that they would not release him but if he had a few weeks away and still felt the same they would release him back to NFC(heard this somewhere b4) we were still prepared to play Simon but Simon was not prepared to put the footy club in this position.

Now lets talk about your comments."South is moving in the right direction(mate you can only go one way, UP as there is no one below you as normal you idiot)by getting rid of piss weak cancers like Dean."Well the FACTS are and if you do know the facts players are walking out IN NUMBERS!! are they all piss weak and cancers OR could the problem lay in your backyard???

As for your comments regarding Simons abilty, this is a lad that played 2 years of teal cup footy had AFL clubs talking to him until 3 seasons ago when he had a knee recon. After the knee op Simon asked to come and have a run with NFC and we questioned his decission but where more than happy to have Simon on board who won our BF in 08!

So I guess you are one of the ego's that Simon pointed out or just another wan a be that has s***t loads at a club that has done jack for years with the same old line we are rebuilding. WAKE UP SA AND HAVE A GOOD LOOK AT YOURSELF!!!!!!!!!

Elf likes that word Piss Weak...probably cos hes heard it so many times directed at South Adelaide in relation to their A grade performances

Oh come on guys think your being a little harsh on South Adelaide here! They did make the grand final in both As and Bs back in about 1979. They will have the 30 year reunion for that this year wouldnt they! They have also played finals once in the last 10-15 years so they are going ok! Give them a break! They are a strong SANFL club not like centrals!

South Adelaide should change there name to the Wineflies with a drought like that...

Hmmmm seems strange to me that Dean wont be released to the Shoes. Was it not earlier in the year that J.Sampson was released back to Morphies and in recent weeks L.Corrie? Double standards? D.Ellis was also a contracted player for this year and is now playing at Victor. Perhaps there is more than meets the eye to this story...

In my opinion if a guy doesn't want to be at a club then there is no point holding him and forcing him to play. What is the point in that? That goes for any level of football be it local or SANFL level. Playing a bloke who doesn't want to be there in front of others who want to be there does not make sense.

Interesting to see where this goes.

The difference is that reynella won it back then south last flag 1995 or 96 in the under 17 or 19s! A grade 1964! Something to hang your hat on Panthers! Dont forget they are now the PANTHERS not south adelaide! How ridiculous!

Spot on Qwerty,
as for double standards I could add others not including juniors!

And no there is no more that meets the eye as what I have posted is fact.

As a contracted player, Josh was held back from playing for the emus for 1 week but allowed to play after that. Not sure on liam so cant comment. Seems a bit strange they wont release him if he has no interest in playing there, but strange things certainly happen quite frequently down at lovelock drive!

welcome to the politics of footy you all know how leauge teams operate so all this talk should be no suprise in regards to south football club it will continue on and on as good players dont want to play for bottom teams it happens in all leauges if your rep is as a loser eg south and hackam then unless jesus shows his face then no miricals at these clubs ever. i remember being named on the forward flank on a thursday at the bay come saturday they had bought down a country lad and i was out of team completely this happened five weeks in a row watching from the stands when i could have been playing A grade at reynella league clubs want change as the think the are bigger than the game

I'm sick of everyone from the local clubs bashing South

I've been in this kids position and its can end in 3 ways

* kid leaves South becomes a legend of the local club, BIG FISH IN A LITTLE POND,
(Looks back in 20-30yrs and thinks i probably could have played legue footy if i applied myself huh, but hey I'm a legend of my local club i wonder what would have been)

* Kid leaves South poisons the minds of other kids so that they dont try to play there and the local legend wins lots of SFL games
(way to go champ you just stoped other people achieving te maximum they can, you legend)

*Kid trains plays with legue club tries to get every ounce of tallent out of him self then once you are done THEN you return to your local club and play with your mates
(real mates want to see you succed at the highest level not drag you back to their level)

I played 60+ league games for south over 12 years its not easy to play league footy year after year after year. it takes mental strength to persist when things / people aren't going your way. I was very lucky to have a few people at my local club when i wanted to come back tell me stay there we'll still be here later. The respect I have for the club is huge and I'm trying to repay them still.

I think the local clubs have a lot to answer for in regards to South's performances over the last 10-20 years and Shoe boy your post i a perfect example a club pretends its looking out for the kid and welcomes him back so they can win games, instead of pushing him out there to excell at the highest level he can for as long as he can. I think it is selfish on behalf of the clubs

Well said mate, south might be in a better position if all clubs thought like yours. Unfortunately, some get desperate and selfish, they need to think of the bigger picture.

just another sfl talent that south took on board only to be s***t on again! lets just face it, the kid was a wet blanket and you'd get more of a conversation out of a deaf retard. when his time finally did come and played 1 reserves game the kid got towered up and asked to be dragged from the feild! please! dragged from the feild because he was getting beaten! i hope that sort of mentallity doesent run in your blood line big fella! anyway i hope south clear him. good ridence. oh and shoe boy dont hide behind your other user name good luck!!! cheers elf

He was playing Ressies out at westies back 2 to 3 years ago and was one of the better players at west in a side that had Cooney and Waters in a dominate Under 17 season. Had several AFL clubs continually chasing him making him do more and more and even telling him he was already at his peak (At 17 who wants to hear that). With all this going on lost the passion to play and went away for a year think hes best to play footy under his uncle and with (and against) his cousins and go back to enjoying it. At 17 being pressured into an uncertain future has taken its toll and maybe best to going back where footy was simple.

Harden Up? Yeah maybe but remember alot of these kids are given false dreams by bigger things to only be crushed and with a small window im sure hes not the first or last to lose the spark for the game. Give him a break I say

Girth

Thess kids must have some tallent to be out at south to start with and sometimes it just looks easier to leave the time i was at south and when your not winng footy is sh*t but we have to try to make it hard to come back so that they dont waste away and regret it later on.

The biggest word in he English language is... IF

IF only i tried harder as a kid
IF only i studied
IF only i started my apprentiship 5 years earlier

Nobady said it was going to be easy, they just said it would be worth it !!!

See ya of to trainning

I think it is selfish on behalf of the clubs

very very well said! people bag south but dont realize the work and committment and dedication that it takes at that level, its easy to bag! if any sfl or gsfl thinks they could make it and make a difference then south would welcome them with open arms but too many just do the pre season get there free hat and shirt and go back to there local clubs then bag us, or get a league game under their belt and quit!

Lets get a few points straight, the NFC and I would love for Simon or any footballer at the Shoe to follow their dreams and aspire to play at the highest level (it is part of our mission statement)but in this case you have a lad that does not want to be there for watever reason.

SA in my dealings have been seen to be inconsistent in many areas of the footy club and in my opinion have let the lad down in many ways!!

Now ELF I dont know how to prove you incorrect regarding having 2 usernames.(it took me a while to work out your post re) but I dont have another and am not Goodluck.

Shoe boy

I have personally had players from your club seek me out and get my opinion on the fact that they are getting pressure from your club to "come back and play with their mates in a young up and coming side".

Lets be realistic in the local comp you can probably play till your 30 ish. If the kids come back when they are 25 you will still get good service from them and the amount of knowledge learned in 5 years at a league club is invaliable. stop being so selfish and limiting these guys for the better of your clubs

Alright lads, this is getting a little nasty now.

Any more nasty adjectives aimed at Simon Dean or any other player will be deleted and receive a banning.
