Smithy I thought it was quite a healthy debate with only rubbish being thrown at South as a club.The bottom line is that if enough $$$ is thrown at footballers it certainlly makes them think twice about where they want to be. Its a huge committment to play league and if you are languishing in the reserves for $70 odd dollars a game training 5 times a week there there is a easy way out.Its a problem that is going to escalate in years to come with the SANFL clubs looking to take a drop in revenue if the stadium deals goes through to Crows and Power. Please there is a lot of emotion into players leaving or jumping ship when things get hard or if they simply dont enjoy it and this forum is one way of venting the frustration. Sometimes without all the facts.

Simple, Simon dean is not enjoying his footy at the moment. would like to come back to the shoe. What do you want the shoe to do (Say no, you have to play out at south). what would that do to him. The shoes would love to see him stay out at SA and play his best footy, but his not enjoying himself out there. why is it so hard to let the kid come back to his local footy club and have a kick and catch with his mates. with both south & Shoes full support. Then maybe he might like to have another crack out there, and the Shoe's and mates will be supporting him 100%.

If he did play for west and then wanted to play out at south, does this mean that south would of had to pay a transfer fee for him....... if so then he made a commitment to south for them to pay the fee, and if he now wants out cos its to hard, then i think south have every right to do what they are doing.

If South arent aware that some that they have to embrace the local clubs then they are in bigger trouble for the future especially when the Coach publicly states thats the direction that the Club is heading.
Some players can come back and some cant and obviously a lack of communication as well.
There has to be some clear rules about players coming back which would be the same for all clubs and maybe get all local clubs together for an open forum to discuss these.
South still seem to put themselves on a pedastall as a League Club which dictates as they wish and really havent got the respect from there local clubs and maybe success would fix this but at the moment they need to be out there trying to get the Local Clubs and Community on board.

Edwardstown footy club have contacted the Shoes regarding jumper clash and believe we should wear an alternative in 2 weeks time as it is a home game for them.

When they entered our comp we raised this with both the SFL and Edwardstown and where informed they have an alternative jumper as they are used to this as in the SAAFL the side that goes up must have an alternative if there is a clash be it home or away.

The Noarlunga footy club has been part of the SFL for 120 years and the Edwardstown footy club 9 rounds!

Thanks to the Brighton footy club for putting pen to paper with an apology regarding no hot showers when last we played.
Thankyou and as we know these things happen.

Great night at the Shoe with Kane Cornes and his mates having a run with the junior and minis last night.
The place was packed and all enjoyed especially when the Power boys formed a circle with the 2/3 and sang the club song.
Well done to all involved and also Port Power.

So whats the best way to convince people that South Adelaide is the best option? I know a few lads who have headed to other league clubs instead of South, and even guys that played at South are now at other league clubs (Archard, Mcglone, Clarke etc) Why do they leave?

SAFC have been in the local area for 14-15 years now and nothings changed. The attitude of the people in the area hasnt changed and the younger more promising players arent sticking it out down there. How can this change?

I dont see the point in keeping a player at a club if they dont want to be there. They will not put in 100% and will be more of a nuisance than a positive for the club. Let the player go, there no good to you anyway.

The amount of guys playing local football that could play league football is minimal at best, the commitment it takes alone is massive and if you're not 100% committed your wasting your time. I fully understand the challenge of playing league footy, the pride of playing in the best comp outside of the AFL, but you cant knock a guy for wanting to go play with his mates, or even take big cash in the country somewhere because in the end its your 'social' football, not your livelihood.

sorry shoe boy but i dis-agree.EVERY club should have a clash guernsey regardless of what has been said at meetings and who's been in the league longer.

m/vale and h/valley are the only 2 teams i know of having a clash guernsey.

Well youve got happey valley who can either wear their black with yellow strip or yellow with black strip.

I agree clash strips should be worn where needed, and it should be the away team which wears them. Shoe boy at least your club brought it up before the season started.

My opinion is Edwardstown should have to wear the alternate guernsey. This being that Noarlunga (i am assuming) don't have a clash strip and will not be able to get a set made in time, number 1. Number 2, Edwardstown already have an alternate strip. Number 3, the cost of new guernseys is a bit of money for an SFL club (or any country and most amatuer clubs) to fork out for one game a year. Number 4, Noarlunga had previously raised this issue and the SFL should have decided at the start of the year as to who would wear what when these two sides met, not Noarlunga's problem now (besides maybe being a little confused when they play). No way i would be paying out money for new guernseys or wearing them against the new side to the league just because they want us too.

If each club (or those that have jumpers that clash) was made to have an alternate strip, the SFL and Community football board should be subsidising these guernseys and then i would agree, the away side to wear them. But this is not the case. Edwardstown for me.

Agree for this particular occasion- if alternate strips are to be enforced it has to be in place before the season starts.

Perhaps we could change the SFL to Shoe Football League.
If we all have alternate strips and wear them on away clashes the problem is solved fairly, you don't want to sound like Collingwood do you Shoe Boy.
If not for the recruitment of clubs like Edwardstown there might not be a SFL cos' I can see the demise of a few clubs in the next three years...and how many clubs would that be that we have lost McLaren, Kangs etc etc.

Why did you leave BJ?

I think ive said this before. My opportunities were limited. Playing good footy in the 2s, not getting a go when the league side is underperforming, the lure of my mates back home, not good enough, all good reasons for me returning to my home club!

I agree with Panther1136 theres no point rubbishing South Adelaide for my lack of league football. We all live and die by our decisions, my decision was to leave and my heart wasnt in it in the last 2-3 weeks of my time there so why waste my time and South Adelaides time training 4-5 times a week.

In the end South Adelaide didnt feel like my football club, it felt like where i played football so i went home. If i regret that in years to come then thats my problem and something i have to live with, nobody elses.
