Brighton have a clash guernsey too and we have 2 senior sets and one each for 18, 16 and 14's which enables us to have all teams on a given Saturday wearing them if necessary. Everyone at the club loves our yellow strip and we wear it whenever there is a hint of a clash and don't get too precious about it versus our main strip. We even wore it in the 2007 GF vs Morphett Vale even though there is no major clash between the home strips of MV and BB. The Bombers even wore the Port Magpies prison bars in a Prelim Final vs Happy Valley a few years back. The club wore that style guernsey back in the 70's so we chose to wear it to avoid a clash rather than wear the horrible old SFL guernsies or some other borrowed set. Bottom line is that it costs a fair bit of money and not easy to just come up with an alternate strip without sponsorship and time. Noarlunga don't have an alternate and the SFL and Edwardstown should have foreseen the clash and dealt with it long before now. In my opinion Edwardstown should be told to wear an alternate this week. Thanks Shoe Boy for acknowledging our shower apology. I heard that someone from your club felt our President was a bit dismissive about it on the day but he was actually cursing the council who were supposed to fix the dodgy thermostat that caused the water heater to switch off when the water temp got too hot. A different water heater services the home rooms so we were oblivious to it switching off again. I believe all has now been fixed.

Edwardstown footy club have contacted the Shoes regarding jumper clash and believe we should wear an alternative in 2 weeks time as it is a home game for them.

When they entered our comp we raised this with both the SFL and Edwardstown and where informed they have an alternative jumper as they are used to this as in the SAAFL the side that goes up must have an alternative if there is a clash be it home or away.

The Noarlunga footy club has been part of the SFL for 120 years and the Edwardstown footy club 9 rounds!

I believe the whole clash jumper thing is a joke anyways. Teams have been playing for years and years without having an alternative strip, do you really think that it has influenced the outcomes of any games?

In this case i would however back Noarlunga in, as previous posters have stated they tried to deal with the issue earlier. If Edwardstown are so concerned about this and they have an alternative strip, just wear it! Its only a jumper, either that or piss of back to the ammo's.

So whats the best way to convince people that South Adelaide is the best option? I know a few lads who have headed to other league clubs instead of South, and even guys that played at South are now at other league clubs (Archard, Mcglone, Clarke etc) Why do they leave?

SAFC have been in the local area for 14-15 years now and nothings changed. The attitude of the people in the area hasnt changed and the younger more promising players arent sticking it out down there. How can this change?

I dont see the point in keeping a player at a club if they dont want to be there. They will not put in 100% and will be more of a nuisance than a positive for the club. Let the player go, there no good to you anyway.

The amount of guys playing local football that could play league football is minimal at best, the commitment it takes alone is massive and if you're not 100% committed your wasting your time. I fully understand the challenge of playing league footy, the pride of playing in the best comp outside of the AFL, but you cant knock a guy for wanting to go play with his mates, or even take big cash in the country somewhere because in the end its your 'social' football, not your livelihood.

Why did you leave BJ?

I think ive said this before. My opportunities were limited. Playing good footy in the 2s, not getting a go when the league side is underperforming, the lure of my mates back home, not good enough, all good reasons for me returning to my home club!

I agree with Panther1136 theres no point rubbishing South Adelaide for my lack of league football. We all live and die by our decisions, my decision was to leave and my heart wasnt in it in the last 2-3 weeks of my time there so why waste my time and South Adelaides time training 4-5 times a week.

In the end South Adelaide didnt feel like my football club, it felt like where i played football so i went home. If i regret that in years to come then thats my problem and something i have to live with, nobody elses.

IMO that was a big problem, I say was as I have no idea on current practices there, but it seemed that a lot of players were promoted from Juniors to reserves on potential rather than actual performance.

This left a bad feeling towards the club when these players went back to the local leagues and while people will always want their mates to succeed they aren't going to lie to them about the way things are/were run out there.

JUMPER CLASH

If true that the SFL was advised early in the year they again certainly seem to have dropped the ball again. I agree E/Town if they have a clash jumper should wear it.

SFL need to make some decisions as to clash jumpers before the end of this season to allow clubs that need to get new jumpers the time to raise the money and order the jumpers.

While we are firing shots at E/Town
Maybe they can also get SFL playing shorts for the entire team. As I see some of them are still wearing white SAAFL shorts. I wonder if they have been fined yet.

he said he will find out at selection tommorrow night but whatever he plays it will be with limmited game time something like 10-15 minutes a quater good to see him back from a knee recon at the age of 19
