I hear that the boys in blue were called but missed the culprit?? DTH I see that you must be working night shift this week with your late posts but again an incident involving Brighton and only silence from you on it.

Dunno how much i can say because its probably still a police matter but the time keeper i believe it was, a Brighton parent, struck a Hackham 16s player over the fence. There was a bit of push and shove and then he went a sat in his car licking his wounds. Two police cars turned up and went to the wrong car park and he left before they spoke to him. We supplied them with the number plate so they went to get him. Havent heard anything since then. Hes a gutless wanker if you ask me.

Typical Hackham response without anywhere near the full story. Dare I say the Police know the Hackham Car Park very well so thats the first flaw in your story. Rumour is that half the crowd fled when they saw the coppers.

you must have been there to see everyone run for the hills DTH....oh wait it was a rumour. you should get your facts straight and then come on here with something decent to say. the hackham of 3-4 years ago was not the best but things have turned around and this is the 1st altercation there has been at the club for the 2 years i have been with the hawks. there is no one you can justify yet try and talk your way out of a grown man attacking an U/16 kid. JOKE!!!!

Hi guys
I dont want to dredge up old stuff, but thought this was an interesting email i recieved yesterday from a guy getting pressure from his local club to leave South Adelaide and come back and play A grade about 1-2 months ago

He played his 1st league game on the weekend:

Hey Mate,
Got your message last night at training so yeah cheers mate

I just have to say a big thanks to the advice you gave me when i asked you earlier in the year. Had you just said whatever i probably wouldn't have stuck at it for a bit longer and now i am really glad i did.

Even though we lost on the weekend i throughly enjoyed the experience and the atmosphere when we hit the lead late in the third and early in the last. To loose was disappointing but like i said i just really enjoyed it and cant wait for next week now to have another crack and hopefully do better than on the weekend.

I am going to try and loose the defensive mindset i had on the weekend and just hunt the footy more this weekend and try and get right amongst it.

It's certainly a step up but i reckon i will pick it up if i continue to get games.

So once again mate a massive thanks for the advice you offered me and i guess i owe you a beer or three so when time permits would be great to catch up and sink a few, until then

Cheers ........

This guy had been there for a while only playing 2nds footy and he wasn't enjoying it,
Look at his attitude now cant wait till he can do it agian,

This is why I believe giving kids the easy option to leave South is the wrong decision.

I bet he's enjoying his footy now and not 2nd guessing him self 2-5-10 years from now.

Yeah a bit strange that one. If the Shoe seniors were at home I have no doubt Aldinga would've been happy to accommodate. I guess they are trying to keep Aldinga all together as we pay an extra $5000 a year to get a better draw ;) , oh wait no we don't we just finish near the bottom.....

Zelezny Chucks

I'd say at an educated guess he had been playing 2nds for approx 5-7 years with his fair share of injuries

It just goes to show that your not finished at a league club when you turn 20 years of age

Panther 1136 I too dont want to bring up old ground, but since you asked.
We have and will continue to support the lad and all wished him well on his first league game on the w/end for South Adelaide for your info the lad is 24 and has shown great commitment to stick at his goals.

This commitment at a club that has been GOING NOWHERE.
No disrespect but after so long at a poor SANFL club like SA you would ask yourself what for and with this year watching so many walk out the club finally gives a 24 year old a crack?has it taken so long to see the talent??

Come on Cyclops, I thought we were forum buddies. Despise is a harsh word. I would have thought the SFL is all the better for Brighton's entry back in the 90's. Its more like some people from "over the hill" clubs that think we look down on others. It you want to bag the non-traditional clubs and tell then to nick off then there wouldn't be too many left in the league. Poor old Plympton, Morphy Parks, Marion and Happy Valley must have copped it in their early days for daring to have some success against the "traditional" clubs. You are always welcome at Brighton Cyclops. And whilst you're here we'll brush up on your spelling and grammar, give you a free spray to improve that pale winter complexion, maybe some cheap dental and we'll throw in some laser tattoo removal to boot.

By the way I'm taking the piss. We are as working class as anyone else in this league, however not happy that someone from Hackham cose to use the forum to give a very simple and biased account of what happened last Saturday. The matter is now before the SFL and the whole story will come out and those from either club who are in the wrong will be duly dealt with.

as much as id love to see it there is no way m/vale will beat cove by 7 goals.this for me will be an absolute cracker of a game and there will be nothn in it either way(emus just).if the emus win by 7 gls then NO-ONE will get near the emus(wishfull thought).cove are just going along nicely after a few hik-ups earlier in the year.cove imo are the side that I respect most.go u emus.

Shoe boy

The reason for this post was to high light this guys commitment to a cause, and how his attitude had changed now he had a taste of league footy.

But for some reason you have so much anger towards South, that you turn it into a back handed compliment, saying That the only reason he's getting a game is because a few guys have left the club. (hope that doesn't get back to the lad). How about being +ve on something other than YOUR young side for a change

Yes its been a while between drinks but maybe thats because people aren't embrasing them, and taking pot shot every chance they get. I mean i haven't once taken a pot shot at your club and the reasons behind why your club is playing the ONLY young team in the comp.

When i grew up you supported your local SANFL club win loose or draw, because they represent your area.

It just sounds to me that you have had some bad experiances with them. big deal everyclub would have at some stage.
How about growing up and stop slagging them off all the time on this site and try sorting it out with them like normal people do, FACE TO FACE

Anyway.....

Lets get behind the boys we know at any league club and hope they can make an impact.

Posters are pretty scarce from Happy Valley O&G - but as i enjoy your SMOKING HOT avitar picture and would like to see it frequent these pages again, ill try and field it for you.

As far as we could tell, Valleys had a reunion for their 1999 premiership team, and this was the reason for the alternate/heritage jerseys. Tho IIRC they werent actually wearing these blue n yellow numbers back in 1999?!

Valleys also had their "ladies day" on during the day - featuring a pretty swish looking marquee setup, complete with a small cover band! Was pretty cool playing local footy with the sound of some bloke butchering a Crowded House classic in the background!
