Remember they brought Gatting back to face the Warne menace as he was the world's best player of spin

Don't forget Eddie Hemmings.... they dug him up to play us in Sydney when he was 41 !!!!!
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

Wasn't Paul Collingwood ripped from Victorian grade cricket to play an Ashes series?

A couple of big ins for England will help a lot and give them a very good chance. This series is far from over!!

Lol, Australia retain the Ashes with a drawn series. Who are these big ins you speak of? A crippled Flintoff who took how many wickets in the last test? Perhaps the 39 year old Ramprakash could come in as well?

Yeah i think i had had too many beers when i wrote this.

No problem with people being happy with the victory, can not wait for the final test. Interesting article in the age today about Justin Langers thoughts on English cricketers.

If he makes runs he should stay in but you are right he is on very thin ice.

i really think playing hughes against the lowly west indies and pakistan will be the ideal way to get the young lad his confidence back

If the selectors really think he has a technical flaw then the best thing for him to do is to go back to state cricket to fix it, not playing against ordinary test nations. His confidence is not the problem it is inablility to play the short ball.

south australias callum ferguson then must be the next choice middle order batsmen if anyone was to consistently fail

There would be other players considered as well i think. Klinger and Bailey both had pretty good years, Klinger exceptional. Also look for NFC's new man in Khawaja to jump into contention with another big year.

as for hughes if he continues to struggle i suppose the likes of jacques/rogers must be next in line.

Rogers then Jaques for me but i think you will find Watson will continue to do the job unless he loses form.
