Let the Under 8, 10 and 12 comps continue the same way the Mini's has always been run. Certain parents should grow up and understand that these are development years with a focus on participation but thats it not a bad thing to have a nominal prize at the end of year as an excuse for bringing everyone together to celebrate our leagues mini's program.
The bad parent is not exclusive to Cove or for that matter to any particular sporting code, they are everywhere. The SFL are kidding themselves if they don't think that parents and kids play competitivley each week, it is about how each coach addresses this issue. You rave on about school based sport, correct me if I am wrong but don' they publish scores and best players in the media? Does this not encourage competition? We all grew up playing competition and I don't think it harmed any of us, in fact it just might help this molly coddled generation when they get away from the apron strings and have to fend for themselves.
Its often easy to pick the parents who were obviously sporting duds themselves and want to live their dreams through their childrens sport.
Any particular parents you are refferring to? I agree some do live thier dreams via the kids.
I might say before you throw darts at Cove you may wish to look in your backyard, Hear a few whispers about some 14/16 looking for new yards next year due to the split factions saturday and sunday.
Any news about BDOS having 19 on the field in the 'B' game Saturday and 2 goals 1 during this, the winning margin. Just wonder if Warman and Co have the B==== to do anything about it.
