No surprise really.. Pongy has a history of pulling out, particularly after a good year previous.

At least this time it's not after winning a Premiership, only a finals making effort last year.... what a disgrace. And I'm sure the "Association" will pander to their requests next year when they want to rejoin...

Surely we cannot entertain a 7 team A grade comp... bring back Rapids.

finally a bye in the a grade! hopefully the season doesnt seem to feel like its dragging on forever now! shocking news tho pongy pulling out, poor effort by the club to not fill a side after their efforts last year.think we should maybe ease up on robertson and kuss to. Robertson is a quality player and will skittle sum teams this year with his devastating pace and could hit a 5 cent piece with his eyes closed! gd news and bad news for goolwa tho, losing evens but picking up luke bailey, massive talent their and will score a lot of runs this year, goolwa still look to be a good side even tho they have lost a couple by the sounds of it.

Have to agree with you a seven team comp is no good! I thought the idea was to play cricket but with byes, heat rules and games getting called off once there is a result, i am starting to wonder whether that is the case! A few years ago the exec committee tried to get every club to have an A grade, now it seems there will be pongy , yank, victor and rapid bay having bs as there top grade! Is it too late to have noarlunga come in?

Just wondering if Willunga are a chance for the flag next season.
Batting strength would be a concern with an opening batsman who has never made a ton.
one fairly large unit in the field.
Also how stable will club management be with the new vice pres ? Gets quite emotional , especially after a few sherbets.

Unlike Rocky, who can name every player in his starting side, along with their D.O.B's, street address and favourate colour off the top of his head, I have no idea who will be lining up for Willunga this season. I've poked my head out to the last 2 trainings and have only seen a couple of A grader's out. Certainly wouldn't say we are any threat at this stage!

And as for our big unit opening batsmen, this could be his season now that W.C.C is the proud owner of a brand new shiny bowling machine. It just a shame Williamson, Harding and McMillian only use it for shooting balls down wind at 160km's across the oval trying to catch the balls in their hats. We may actually even use it for batting one day.

Eric. bowling machines arent for batting practice. like you say feilding drills are the go. whether shooting 150m across the oval at 100-100 or on the slips cradle at some under 12's. very very very realy does a Jug see willow.

I'm hearing that a few players maybe missing from the first game with a bout of the SWINE flu! Unusual as the player im talking about normally suffers from the BIRD flu thus is mainly due to the amount of ducks he gets during the summer months!

With Pongy out of the A Grade does that mean that Tilt, Wal, Faggotter etc. will be playing B Grade? Certain flag there I would have thought. Especially if they can hang on to the 2 Aldinga opening bowlers (who's names I forget) this year.

no they are in b grade because they lost all these players plus more, inc trapolino and tucker the 2 from aldinga u r talking about.

pongy are a joke they do this every year. once they come out and say all these blokes arent playing so we need to be in b grade then those blokes shouldn't be allowed to play. i feel sorry for blokes like tomo who have to put up with the bullshit. shouldnt have to move clubs to get a game of a grade. but it is excellent to see him make a stand like that.

... and the association let them get away with it each time!! Come December, all the usual suspects will be back and available for the B's. Most clubs see there B Grade as a chance to give the young kids a game against the blokes, and as the "reserves" team for the A Grade.., NOT to churn out premiership after premiership...

A club is only as strong as their A Grade!
