Could be some big seafood nights at Milo's next year. May be a long way to go, but when you can get paid more in a saturday than you do working full time all week im sure it may be something he has a look at.

Your on the money there Punter from what Ive been told, and that was to a rival SFL club. Also nearly went Amatuer league in 09.

I know one of the Morphies boys said 'why would you leave M/V'. I know your club is simply perfect and your poo doesn't stink but maybe I should ask some of the Victor Harbour boys why they left? Doesn't mean you dislike the club anymore, but personal circumstances all change. When you get offerred fe extra $$$, it can be pretty handy. From what Ive heard today, there maybe some $$$ spent at Myponga in 2010 with former Emu/Panther announced as coach. With Clay Smpson now coaching there, I wonder if he will entice brother Dylan & few other Emus to raise the bar as they looking at becoming a more professional/competitive club. Isn't the same club who approached and nearly signed Pollard last preseason?

Every past player, coach & supporter shares the responsibility of what a club is today. While on the most part I respect M/Vale, especially what they have achieved in recent years, but there are pockets that does not make your club PERFECT. In some part, in my opinion, that may be the attitudes & behaviours of a minority that may lower the respect that can be gained from the outside. Every club has this minority that brings down the positive image. Maybe its a small group of M/Vale supporters such a yourself that makes people from opposition clubs view your club as a bunch of ignorant ars......?

Injured Phontom, I am the one who said "why would you leave M/Vale" that was not said with the thought in mind that at M/Vale we are perfect & our poo doesn't stink. Let me say this, how do you become a player life member at a club if you hop from one to another for example?. Have you ever been involved in a winning premiership? let me tell you it is a great feeling. Also at M/Vale there is something else money can't buy & that is mateship. How could we think we are perfect when our B Grade didn't even make the grand final with the team we had? I could go on but won't, have a nice day IP

Thanks for the reply 'Spot On'. I agree with some points you raised. I did mis-interprete your 'money cant buy' statement obviously, but stand by the claim that "some" of your supporters do have an ignorant/arrogant attitude. Yes I did play in a winning premiership, and yes you do form a bond with the team mates you shared that with. I had played with a couple of clubs (not once as a $ recruit) and have remained mates I have become with at all those clubs. I agree that having mates at a club plays a significant role in remaining or i my case returning to a club.
I am no longer involved at Reynella as I have commitments elsewhere. Having said that, when I get a spare afternoon I will go watch the Wineflies. Not because I am paid, or shared a premiership, but because I too have become mates at a club. I am sure you have plenty of nice guys at M/Vale (the few I've met all seem like good blokes), but mateship & top fellas is not isolated to the Emus. Believe it or not, there too are plenty at Reynella (as I am sure there are at all SFL clubs).
I do agree, club-hoppers may not form as tight a bonds as guys who played together for 10 years, but it does depend on the effort they make. If M/Vale did not pay a cent or give any special previleges, could you be confident that you would retain all your players? Whatever your employment is, would you turn down an offer to earn a substancial amount of $$$ with similar circumstances?
I have no comeback to player life membership ... other than congratulations on that acknowlegement. It's satisfying when a club repays an individual for their contributions to making the club a better place.

Thanks IP yes I guess we do have those few supporters you speak of, can't do much about that. I can tell you one player has been offered 4 times what he is paid at M/Vale to go to another club but will not be going, and believe me he could use the money.

That is a club that was rumoured to pay substantial amounts last year (in the vicinity of 80K accourding to their forum). Will any MV players go there ol man???

Congrats to Craig Bevan on winning the Cove FC B&F last night. Fantastic year and well deserved winner. Lets hope he goes again in 2010. As good as they they come in reading the game. :D

Was a good night and enjoyed by all. Well done to Ralph and his social committee for organising the night. A fitting farewell for Ralph Platten on his retirment as president of the Cobra's, A great 5 years by Ralph to top off his years of coaching. :D

Oh, jeez. You don't have to be from Christies to confirm that this is utter codswallop. You're probably right about the huge offers, though - heard Bridgewater gave Lynchie 90 grand to field a side!
