Good to see Mallala have re-appointed Keith Earl back into the top job. 8)

Medalist Whitwell is off to Canada so won't play at all next year though. :(

If that was right it would have made more sense to bypass Sponge and get Slatz as a playing coach instead of having to pay both.

The way everyone is talking on here, it seems any success we see next year at HB will depend on the amount of $$$ they spend. I realise FGH that these rumours aren't stemming directly from your camp, so I'm doubting whether many of them are actually true. For me, I would think it'd be wiser to start recruiting lads <24 age whom will remain at the club for a few years rather than spending up big just to have 1 or 2 good years. The key to <a onMouseOver="javascript:window.status='<a onMouseOver="javascript:window.status='management';return true;" onMouseOut="javascript:window.status='';return true;" href="http://dingalone.info/?v=4%2E04&ss=management">management</a>';return true;" onMouseOut="javascript:window.status='';return true;" href="http://dingalone.info/?v=4%2E04&ss=<a onMouseOver="javascript:window.status='management';return true;" onMouseOut="javascript:window.status='';return true;" href="http://dingalone.info/?v=4%2E04&ss=management">management</a>">management</a> is preparing for the longer term so that the club isn't left in the position it has been in since Hermann and his shoppers left the club a few years ago. Two Wells will have prolonged success near the top because they have been able to retain a younger group that are loyal to the club, Mallala is another. I hope HB doesn't lend itself to the BOOM BUST issues we've seen in the past, all they need is competitive players that will keep off the piss on Friday nights, rather than trying to lure big names that will be shopping around again this time next year. I hope HB make the 4 next season, it would be great for the town and the club and there are a handful of players at the club that deserve more success than they're having at the moment, hopefully next year there will be more than just a handful.

Swamp I agree with all of the above. There is no boom to bust mentality happening next year.....or else Sponge would not have taken the job. We are just trying to do some quality recruiting, and you can all speculate on this subject as much as you like.

But yes we will be steering clear of blokes who get blind on friday nights and saturday mornings  (aka some players from 2008).

Any reason why the club tolerated it this season?
Must have been very patient if it was that bad, what effect did it have on the local lads too if any?

It was 2008. Not this season.

It was not tolerated, they were sacked immediately when we were made aware of the situation. Up until this time they had done the right thing so there was no effect on local/longterm players other than them being disappointed in those who did the wrong thing. Moved on from this.

Does anyone know if Mr Philips has confirmed he is sticking around for another year with the Rams?

Long Plains Cricket Club Juniors are extremely low on numbers this year with the season starting next saturday. If anyone knows of some kids under the age of 16 that would like a game of cricket, get them to contact someone at the club. There are enormous opportunities for potential players.
One day original John Palmer will be found & the truth will be known.

Have heard rumours the seniors comp is in big trouble too. Not all that familiar with the comp but is it time to look to join another comp?

Chopper played one season at Mallala with his brother in 2004. You must turn them into Mallala boys through and through pretty quickly!
