Pretty poor turn in regarding the "Tipping". At least it makes my life easier. With the consent of all 6 that entered on time, I am willing to make round #1 a practice round so more people can get of their lazy butts (Buttfield excepted) and get some tips in for round #2.

2 blokes had 4 correct tips, while the rest all had 3.

When tips are emailed for round 2, don't forget to include your real name (unless it is obvious form the email address) and your 'forum name'.

Final Ladder predictions will need to be in before the start of round #3. Any changes made to the predictions already in will incur a $5 fee.

Hewett Medal for player of the year is top 3, not just the winner. I'm gonna leave that one open until the start of round #5 and you can enter as many times as u like, $5 a pop. In the case of a tie, the first one who got the tip in.

Perhaps ICC can pull some batsmen out of their E grade in section 6 to bolster their batting? Made 3/334 in a one dayer - what a joke. 156* to one fella. thinking big fish in little ponds there. our guys arn't that bad for sect 6 either.

Especially when their A grade played with 10 players all day.

We had our chance of winning today after a 75 run opening stand, we bowled ok, just needed a couple more to make a few runs. Mckay was the difference between the two sides.

Difference was how bad our opening bowlers bowled and how much luck your opener had, should been a 100+ run win hehehe.

All 3 played in Southerns C grade with Fordy and Macca both making 50 and Jib taking 1 wicket. Nick Bowen played as well in the C grade

So would i Westsider, but they had all the trial games cancelled due to the weather, so Southerns were only picking them on net form, which is pretty hard to do.

Last time I checked, C grade district is still a pretty solid comp, certainly nothing to sneeze at. Just getting a gig in the grades is a pretty good accomplishment.

Ive played B grade district cricket (albeit 6 yrs ago), and I would have thought those guys would be consistant performers at a B grade level, possibly pushing for A grade selection.

But yeh, having no trial game form sucks and picking players on net-form isnt the best way to showcase your talents.

so 3 of the finalist are 0-1 and 1, maybe even 2 of em will be 0-2 with wyc playing sharks and ramblers playing plympton... it is going to be a frantic last few games especially for the teams that havnt got off to a good start.

the weather could play a big part in the games after xmas with probably 2 or 3 days lost to hot weather and those teams that havnt consolidated their positions up the top by then could find it very frustrating!

lets be a little realistic westsider
you played in a time when port were very weak, you would never have played higher then D grade at most other clubs!!
From what i have seen and heard, an A grade side would be middle of the table in the C's.
Alot of things go into playing A and B grade district cricket, and if those blokes were any good they would be out there already. The time and commitment it takes to play district cricket is alot more then cement league cricket IMO.

I think there are a couple of section 1 clubs in A&SCA would have at least 1 (some 2) that could play A-Grade district cricket.
Ford & McCormack will only go up the grades, if they string a few good innings together i see no reason why they both cant play (and be successful) in the A-Grade.

ive only ever played at one so cant judge on other district clubs
but how i seen it was, if you could play you got a shot, make scores you move up grades like you said
nothing pretentious about that I wouldnt think??
Im sure there would be a few in the league
but to say there is one possibly 2 in each side is a little far I would think!

I'll steal his thunder well done macca selected in Southerns B Grade this week.

Could use him this week we have 3 changes and one player probably half fit. We've lost our no.4 Jonesy with a spiral frature in his wrist and looks like Cookie will have a scrap on his knee in 2 weeks and Nealy and Keithy Clements away seperate weeks again our depth is tested.

A few more 17s get their chance to take on some big roles great to see them in the near dark tonight still training working on areas of their games they certainly have the attitude to improve at this level.

Kingy won't be playing A's he is skippering the B's. Pressy won't be playing A's for long............if he wants to go back down he will, his choice.
