Premiership Teams pre 1945

Postby spell_check » Sun Oct 22, 2006 9:47 pm

Does anyone have any of the premiership teams before 1945? I have got the 1941 Norwood Premiership side, Magpiespower put on the FootySA Wiki the Port Adelaide Premiership sides before 1945, but apart from that I don't have any.

Also, does anyone have the three combined Premiership Sides during 1942-1944? Do they count towards a players' number of Premierships? I would have thought they do, but I have never seen the teams down before in print.

M.M Solomon - is that Harry Solomon?
J.E Reilly - on the players list there is a James Reilly who played one game for Norwood in 1946. Is this him or another player?
D. Henderson - I don't have this player on any list of mine. Perhaps he is one we've missed.
I. Halliday - Is it Ivan Halliday? Or Ivan Holliday?

Yes, the J E Reilly is James E Reilly, the same one who played 1 game for Norwood in 1946. I will need to refer to my records, but D.Henderson would be Donald Henderson (for memory). And yes, it is Ivan Holliday. Not sure about M M Solomon.

I have all of the premiership teams.

Unfortunately, I'm in Sydney and they're in boxes in Adelaide.

Sorry!

That's Myer Solomon and he only played during the war years (43-44).

That depends on if it was an OFFICIALLY sanctioned SANFL competition
or was conducted by the clubs, ala the World War 1 comp.

The matches played count towards players totals, so I guess the premierships do. But what I was thinking was that you don't see much written at all about these three years whether it be the premiership sides or any match played in this period - i.e. the turnaround in 1944 between Port-Torrens and Norwood-North in regards their last meeting before the GF and the GF.

Here's a tough one for you all...

Premiership teams of the Patriotic League 1916-1918.

I've also got the runners-up teams.

Might have to get those boxes up here!
