Interesting to hear two wells have signed Aaron Spicer the Barossa District and BBH premiership player. Would be a perfect fit for the young two wells side which is clearly lacking a big man in the middle or up forward. Hamely Bridge will be big improvers in season 2010. Sponga is a good coach who will attract quality players. Mallala will again be the team to beat next season. Peter Burgyone would be a great inclusion for Virgina, will he bring other players with him. Will be interesting to see who Balakava, Long plains and hummocks recuit over the summer. Should be another great season in 2010.
Jugs premiership odds for 2010.

Mallala $2.10
Two Wells $5
Hamley Bridge $10
Hummocks $12.50
Virginia $15
Long Plains $20
Balakava $50

why do you have Virginia @ $15 if you think they have burgyone.
if any team in the apfl managed to get him they would be favourites, if not 2nd!
if virginia missed the gf (especially with him) that would make an expensive two years for no result!

HB @ $10?? Short odds for a team thats one about 2 games in three years. "Sponga" has a Ruckman and a rover to work with, will have to bring plenty, which im not sure HB would want him to do after "blooding" every youngster they have over the past two years. They'll get better but I cant see them getting off the bottom this year.

Jugs is right about $20 for you though MC, odds dramatically shorten for likelyhood of being the bridesmaid though.... :D

Controversial odds Jugs, I like it! surely there is a better Avatar for you though!

What's everyone's thoughts on a new rule proposed at the AGM where if a player gets sent off he can't be replaced until the time has expired (eg: 10 minutes). This would be brought in for all grades not just the junior grades where it was brought in during the middle of the season.

My thoughts - Rediculous

surely you cant be serious!!
maybe those odds on Balaklava might be right - costly if Whiskey misses 10-20minutes every few weeks.

Good rule. Stops those dodgy clubs sending blokes off the bench (with limited ability) out with the sole intention to clock the oppositions best players on the head with no real penalty to the offending team, with the crap player being sent off and a better player coming back on to replace him!. I can remember this happening in one particular game in 2007 MC, although the player never even got sent off, to my recollection he did his job then ran back to the bench on his own. Can you elaborate on why this would be a ridiculous rule MC? did your club vote for it? or was if one of the committee's "this is what’s going to happen" rules?

Its being put to vote at next weeks AGM.

Rediculous in so many ways. Don't have time to list them all down at the moment but I can do it tonight or tomorrow night if you like.

I don't have an issue with it, if a team mate does something that warrant being sent off then its a team game and clearly a member of that team has a discipline problem and should be penalised. My main issue with it in the APFL, is the quality and intelligence of some of the umpires make stupid decisions out of panic and ego rather than common sense send offs e.g. the dribbler who does the colts and dougie searle. It gives these units too much of an impact on a game, hard to believe they could have any more, but...

So in wrapping up.............. I don't really know...........how about we leave it as it is because it's not a major issue in our league anyway!!!!!

spot on SD.
the other case is when 1 bloke starts a scuffle & both get sent off.
even though the instigator was more at fault.

Yea very short odds for hamley especially when they have been down the bottom for the past couple of seasons, but sponga is a great choice of coach and they may sneak into the top 4 next season if things go there way. And on the avatar ace, personally I prefer a different kind of jugs!

United - Cause I'm biased.
Mallala - Will be much the same as last year with a couple of inclusions (another very very good midfielder close to signing)
Two Wells - Will be better than last year. Have they signed Aaron Spicer?
Virginia - agree with Donkey. How much more can they spend to win a flag?
Hummocks - Will be around the mark and like this year top 5 will be close. Dylan Cic and probably Joel back in will help them.
Balak - Far from in trouble I would think. They have a shitload of kids (some have never lost a game) coming through. If they keep them they will be the next Two Wells in four years. Have they got a coach yet?
Hamley - Unless they recruit very heavily (and smartly) they will stay at the bottom.

surely sponge wouldnt let this happen...

Why??? Hamley already have a ruckman. Recruiting is about getting players you need not just who is available. A decent ruckman is the only thing Hamley have. Why would they want another one when they can spend their money better elsewhere?

Was there something in a local paper in Gawler or Plains about Hamley having multiple players to add to list? Combination of new signings and players returning? Some amateur boys or something.

Anyone see this? i only heard it third hand.

Pretty dangerous territory recruiting 'groups' of players to your club, especially if they're not linked to Hamley with work or family. Recruiting such as this is what creates that BOOM BUST rollercoaster, because as soon as 1 player is out of favour then they will all want to leave
