Solid comments on teams chances in 2010. MV, Reynella and Cove will still be very hard to toss in 2010 and I'm intrigued about the In's and Out's at HV. Noarlunga are on the improve and Porties always find a way to bounce back from an average season. Townies will be a mystery with the Golding and other rumoured departures. By the way its Wayne Stringer not Alan who I understand has the B grade coaching job at HV. It went to press in our Messenger this week so I can officially declare that Brighton has recruited Nathan Twomey and Chad Norsworthy and Craig Statham has returned. No major departures, but because I know he reads this forum I should say that Randall 'Juice' Lindsay is a huge loss.

 and its going to be funny to try an guess, past player RFC or current player or official?

Thanks DTH.

I'm surprised nobody from Brighton responded to my first post sooner, given that I gave them a huge pump up! The listed inclusions will only help.

Don't worry, like Clark Kent, I will do my best to keep my true identity under wraps.

Interesting news on HV. Why would Stringer take a B grade job? Is that all he can command these days? Will Porter be anxious with Stringer snapping at his heels?

Not bad rap-up on season RFC 2010, i think depending on draw it would be interesting to see how the likes of Christies, Flagstaff hill, Noarlunga fair with their in's and not many outs, could feature in the 8 - but i think thats about it...

Draw was posted a couple of days ago.

Christies get Marion, Morphettville Park, Edwardstown and Cove twice
Flagstaff Hill have Noarlunga, Port Noarlunga, Hackham and Aldinga
Noarlunga have Flagstaff Hill, Port Noarlunga, Happy Valley and Reynella.

RFC 2010 wrote:Hi guys,

Long time reader - first time poster.

I thought I'd try and spark some discussion with a look at how the SFL sides might shape up for 2010.

I know there is still a long way to go until the season kicks off and nobody knows how sides will line up in round 1, but here goes ...

EMUS - can't help but think they might drop off the pace - only slightly. Will definitely still finish the season top 4 but not convinced they will go top. Their 18's and B's seem to have dropped back a rung or two on the ladder in the last year or so. May not be the pure quality pushing through to the A's from below this year. Core group still awesome and always likely to snare a couple of guns wanting to come home. I just think they will drop off a bit while the other teams around them will continue to improve.

WINIES - no guesses as to where my allegience lies. Fair to say that we would have been expected to go backwards last year after players leaving but Early turned things around from the moment he walked through the doors at Winefly Park. The senior group will only improve with the great man at the helm.

BOMBERS - the team to watch. 18's and B grade pure quality and A grade dominant for the best part of the year. Will also improve.

VALLEY - funny year last year. Looked like sh*t at times but generally came together at the business end. B's and 18's no longer dominant sides. I reckon they'll just miss the top 8.

COVE - disappointing last year. Who knows what they'll do this year. Will they be motivated to turn return to the form of 2008? I think they will be around the mark again.

TOWNS - if Reynella are anything to go by, EFC will only improve once Dave Evans has left the joint. Not sure what to make of whispers about players leaving. If they want to go, let them go. Rebuild with those who want to be there. I've heard nothing but good things about the new coach. Will be in bottom half of top 8.

$HOE$ - looks like the $$$$$ are back out and the short term gain is back on the agenda. Difference between top 8-10 players and the rest is too great to seriously contend. Will finish about 5th.

ROOS - may struggle with Big Seb heading to the Eagles. Still a good chance for the lower part of the top 8.

SHARKS - Brad would have been devastated with the way last season finished up. May improve slightly but I doubt it. Definitely bottom 4.

HAWKS - improving. Still bottom 4 but slowly heading up the ladder.

MARION - nothing but respect for Ex but I reckon his gig is just as hard as the jobs at the Hawks and Sharks. A few good, old blokes last year made them look better than they were. Bugger all coming through from B grade. Not sure about 18's - my memory is they struggled big time. Will also be bottom 4 I reckon. Bring back Nobesy????

FALCONS - always underachieve. Quality kids but never translates to senior success. Will finish somewhere between 8 and 12.

PORTIES - similar story to Marion but their quality at the top end is a bit better. Will probably finish about 10.

CHRISTIES - will probably continue to improve. 18's, B's and A's all improved last year - which is a good sign. Won't be a serious contender but will finish in 8.

LIONS - See Marion - will finish bottom 4 or thereabouts

I think that's everyone.

Ladder at end of minor round will be something like this:

WINIES
BOMBERS
EMUS
COVE
SHOES
CHRISTIES
TOWNS
VALLEYS
ROOS
FALCONS
PORTIES
MARION
LIONS
HAWKS
SHARKS

Thoughts????

Reynella can finish where they want in the minor round, like the black and white in the AFL you guys choke when it comes to finals!! Especially the big one. Malthouse couldnt change Collingwood and Earl is definately not a Malthouse!!

Agree with you there about Marion having a good year. They look like picking up some handy players from Tailem Bend.

Is Gill who plays for Cove a ruckman? Was he their starting ruckman in 2008, if so with the rumour of big Patrick Gabb returning to Cove, where will Matt Size fit in?

Hey ZC, any chance the mex will be rejoining the forum soon?

In answer to your question MG the Mexican had his hands and testicles surgically removed after drinking two beers in 3 hours and developing severe alcohol poisoning causing irreparable damage. He also has heart problems and seems to struggle when put under scrutiny.

These are the reasons he has been absent and will likely continue to be.

I think the mexican is in jail. He tied his wife to the train line because he wanted tequila.
Don't think you will hear from him for a long time.

Sorry AFL FLYER, your sources are past their use by date on this one..

can confirm that the mex is still in exile and ol man emu is not another alias. If you look back at the mexican's posts they are constructed just a lil bit different. ;)

Lets be honest on this one, we all want the seedy Mexican back to spice things up a little bit on the forum.

Panther 32.. pretty sure Gill was injured for most of the season this year Leaving Size to carry most of the ruck duties. Heard a rumour that Gill was going to hang up the boots after collecting SFL player life membership this year. can anyone confirm or deny this?

Listed on the KNFL site that MV have picked up Lincon Sharpe from Kingston. He is a full forward, so not sure where he fits in with the current squad. Is coming off a broken leg so we won't see him for a while, but is supposedly a decent player.

I dont think the emus are actively recruiting - more ensuring they keep the premiership group together (and hopefully get a couple of past premiership players back)

From what i heard tho if this person moves to adelaide and can get on the park then will be having a kick and a catch with a few mates at the emu.

Spot on there Swooper...He has made a few friends at Morphies so if he plays in town it will be with the Emus. He is not necessary a full forward but is known to take a big mark.
