Simon will be back at the Shoe in 2010 after the worst year of his footy for a number of reasons in 09.

This should spark some discussion.
We are now at the end of another decade for SFL football (2000-2009)
Below are some categories and teams I believe fit and why. (A Grade)

Team of the Decade
1. Morphett Vale - 5 premierships a,d 6 GFs

Biggest Chokers
1. Noarlunga - 1 from 4 attempts
2. Reynella - numerous Prelims and GF losses
3. Pt. Noarlunga - consistant finalists and minor premiers a couple of times for 0 flags

Biggest Underachievers
1. Brighton - ridiculous amount of 16 & 18s flags, great senior squad for only A grade flag.
2. Reynella - good juniors, quality seniors, 0 flags
3. Happy Valley - good juniors, consistent finalists, 1 flag

Biggest Overacheivers
1. Lonsdale - with the players they have had and lack of juniors, did quite well at times

Biggest Slide from start of decade to end
1. Marion - 1 flag and couple of GFs to consistant lower to mid table
2. Noarlunga - GF after GF to lower to mid table
3. Hackham - Competitive to non existence to non competitive

Biggest Rise from start of Decade to end
1. Cove - Couldnt win a game in div 2 to winning the flag in 08
2. Morphett Vale - mid table to domination

Biggest Disappointments
1. Hackham - See above
2. Aldinga - Never really got moving up, really non competitive
3. Reynella - inability to grab that elusive flag
4. Flagstaff Hill - pretty good juniors, haven't made a move up the table quick enough
5. Kangarilla - Couldn't handle the heat of the bigger kitchen so got the hell out!

Could also discuss the best players of the decade?

Pretty good summary Petoe. I agree with most of it.
Two exceptions--
Port Noarlunga- no silverware, but I'd rate them more in the "Biggest over-achievers column" than "biggest chokers" ---- continually knocked out a big fish before eventually bowing out at a higher level than we all expected. 2004 was probably a "choke" but over the decade they proved incredibly competitive in September.
My other comment was the separate "Chokers" and "Under-acheivers" columns --- to me they are the same thing.

Kangys did not have the junior base to continue "at the higher level" as i stated to kung fu wang wang eye were not prepared to hand over buckets of cash to players who have done little to warrant such payments.
The biggest DISAPPOINTMENT to the football purest is the extreme levels that clubs are willing to go to recruit a player $$$$.Our club has since implemented a zero tolerance to drugs and in return players left and our on field results have suffered so be it,if all clubs followed this example then players wouldnt be putting their hands out for the big bucks and parents could take their little footballer to a club that is "family friendly". :D

Quite a good synopsis petoe  Will cause some debate tho..

Pretty much tells you that there should be a Div1 and Div2 again, especially with a couple've extra clubs knocking on the door to get back in Southern from town. Too big a gap from the top to the bottom, Lonsdale's result flattered by more games against the 'weaker ' sides and Noarlunga, Marion, Flaggies(a little bit) playing more games against the powerhouses.
Each club's depth would have to be a major consideration of why some of these teams are in the categories they are.

I think we all got a little fooled that year.. They played good team footy all year and coupl've individuals had ripper seasons, they won some games the punters thought they'd lose but couldn't hold into finals where the Emus were untouchable.

Shoe boy a couple of weeks ago you posted that Golding was signed to your Club. I now here from a good source that Golding has now signed up with Encouter Bay as a Coach
Do you know whats going on at your Club.  [/quote]

Matt has signed at the Shoe and will play and also assist T Mitton in 2010
Matt took training last night and over the pre season programme will take a number of sessions.

Last night was another good night with good numbers and a solid work out.

So what happened about the rule that one SFL team couldn't recruit from a new SFL league team in the first 2 or 3 years, obviously not true?

P32 I believe it is not just a new team that this applies to. The way I read the ruling is that you can hold any new player to your club for 2 or 3 years from changing to another SFL team if you wish. If the players have been at E/town for longer than that prior to entering the league then I think they are free game. BUT I think E/town or the club the player is coming from has the final decision to whether the transfer can be done or not. ;)

P32 and MR J are both correct.
Edwardstown are a protected species for 3 years as we had a meeting with the SFL re this ruling. We have also met with E/Town and all is good as far as our recruits are concerned.

As I have always said why keep someone that doesnt want to be there.(Unless it is a kid "Hawks") ;)

Hey Moeman, we have now switched to Tuesday & Thursday nights. Last week both sessions in the high 40's, numbers should increase now that we have switched to these nights. How many you Cheesoids have out both nights last week. ;) Could be some exciting signings in the next couple of days at Ram Park. I think I am going to get some blood flow if they come to fruition.

That is extremely disappointing for you blokes. Peter Mueret must be pulling his hair out as I am sure others are too. Only early I guess but bloody hell that is not a good sign for the Roos. Not that I mind it honestly but hope it picks up for you fella's. 8)
