What Im seeing in the NBA

- The 4th Aussie to play in the NBA this season, as Patrick Mills makes his debut in a Portland loss to the Clippers. 20pts from Chris Kaman lead LA as they ran away in the fourth, as Brandon Roy's streak of 20+ scoring games came to an end at 15 with just 6, as Andre Miller put Portland on his back scoring 22 points and 16 assists.
- Atlanta lucky to get within 17 of Miami as they shoot 35% and get outrebounded by 22.
- Hornets hold Utah to 30 points in the second and third quarters combined, while Devin Brown explodes for 30 points (5-8 3pFG)
- Joakim Noah keeps cleaning up on the offensive boards (another 7 v Oklahoma), but he has such an unfair advantage with the Bulls continuing their slump, shooting 35%, going down 98-85 in Chicago

AUSSIE WATCH
- Patrick Mills (loss 105-95 v LA CLippers)
5 min, 0-3 FG, 2 ast, 0 points
- Luke Nevill (NBADL loss 103-109 v ABQ)
29 min, 6-13FG, 2-2FT, 4 reb, 2 ast, 1 st,1 block, 14 points

Lakers

One of the lower scoring matches of the year, Lakers winning 88-79. Rockets shot themselves in the foot, so to speak, with terrible foul shooting in the first half. Game was 41-33 at half time

Washington's Gilbert Arenas suspended indefinitely for the locker room gun incident, as well as his pregame antics v Philly.

What Im seeing in the NBA

- Only one game so...plenty of time to focus on Gilbert Arenas and his suspension
- The New Jersey Nets have banned all gaming on their flights (the Arenas-Crittenton stoush started with a game of cards) - I would have thought they should be focusing more on basketball (or are we just counting down to the Lottery now)
- In the only game the Knicks won 97 -93 at home against the Bobcats. David Lee continued his push for an All Star spot with 22 points (11-17 FG), 7 reb, 5 ast. Nate Robinson continues to show he may be the streakiest player in the NBA, if hes hot ha can torch you for 41, but tonight... 19 min, 1 assist, 7 turnovers.

AUSSIE WATCH

David Andersen (Houston Rockets)
36 games, 14.8 min, .414 FG%, .269 3PFG%, .686 FT%, 3.1 reb, 5.9 points
Andersen's shooting has deserted him lately, going 11-32 FG and 0-8 3PFG, in the last five games
Andrew Bogut (Milwaukee Bucks)
26 games, 32.4 min, .504 FG%, .575 FT%, 9.7 reb, 2.0 assists, 1.85 blocks, 15.5 points
Bogut has been overtaken in the chase for an All Star backup role, with him performances to close out 2009 well below his early season form
Nathan Jawai (Minnesota Timberwolves)
27 games, 11.2 min, .430 FG%, .724 FT%, 3.0 reb, 3.5 points
Jawai has lost playing time, and has even recorded a DNP- CD on Dec 30, playing only 7.3 min per game over the last five T'Wolve losses
Patrick Mills (Portland Trailblazers)
1 game, 5 min, 0-3 FG, 2 assist
Plays the LA Lakers tommorow and hopefully can get some court time, after his lightning start to his pro career in Idaho
Luke Nevill (Utah Flash NBADL)
11 games, 25.1 min, .550 FG%, .810 FT%, 6.0 reb, 1.4 assist, 1.4 block, 11.5 points

Maybe its not all love in Portland

Thursday's practice which featured an exchange between head coach Nate McMillan and a voice that sounded to be that of Andre Miller. The exchange, which lasted nearly 30 minutes, was loud enough to be heard by the media members in the waiting room. I wasn't close enough to hear exactly what was said, so I won't speculate on that, but it was clear this was not a friendly discussion.

Here's the gist of today's airing of grievances ...

Jason Quick:

Miller shouted throughout the exchange, and McMillan mostly listened, but at times broke in with shouting of his own.
One of the topics discussed was an incident late in Tuesday's game with Memphis, when Miller told Jerryd Bayless to make his second free throw with 4.3 seconds left and the Blazers trailing by two. The coaching staff and team captain Brandon Roy told Bayless to miss the free throw so the Blazers could attempt to rebound and make a tying basket.

What Im seeing in the NBA

- Chris Bosh keeps putting up the numbers (27 points, 10 reb) but the Raptors lose a 23 points lead to the Danny Granger (23 points) led Pacers going down 101-105 and are now under .500
- Samuel Dalembert may of had only 6 points, but was key to the 76ers defeating the Hornets in Philly. He tallied 14 boards and 5 blocks and helped the 76ers keep David West to 6-17 FG shooting
- Boston shot 55% FG, 50% 3pFG and LOST to the Hawks AGAIN! with Joe Johnson scoring 36
- Piston lose 13 in a row and even now are getting spanked by the Bulls, 87-120. Chicago shot 57% FG as Rose (11-13FG, 22pts, 9 ast in 25 min) Deng (13-18FG 27pts) showed the way
- Nate Robinson had an 'on' day with 19 points, but the Knocks shot 38% and went down 88-106 in Oklahoma, as Kevin Durant (30 points, 8-14FG) again lead the way for the Thunder
- The Wolves continue to have three players (Love, Jefferson, Brewer combine for 67/94 points, Jawai next hi scorer), while Denver have a great team balance with seven players in double figures led by 'Melo's 24 points
- The Bucks starters can manage only 46 points as the Suns win 106-101 with Steve Nash balancing his 7 turnovers with 30 points, 11 assists and 7 rebounds
- Heat fall to .500 with a 89-118 loss in Utah
- LeBron stuff the stat sheet with 37 points, 11 assists, 8 reb, 4 blocks in 117-112 win at Golden State

AUSSIE WATCH
- Andrew Bogut (loss 101-105 v Phoenix)
24 min, 5-16 FG, 3-4FT, 13 reb (5 off, 8def) 1 ast, 3 ste, 13 points
- Nathan Jawai (loss 94-105 v Denver)
12 min, 4-7FG, 0-1 3PFG, 0-1 FT, 1 reb, 1 steal, 2 turnovers, 8 points

I was also spewing as I had a few bucks on the Cavs! Got home in time to see the last 5 minutes as well and it really was an incredible last quarter. Cavs missing those late free throws hurt them but Lebron nailed some big 3s, thought they were going to win the match. Pretty fair effort by the rookie to hit the winner, I think he was only on a 10 day contract or something.

Happy to see my Chicago Bulls knock off the injury plagued Celtics in Boston though, very important win and we are getting closer to the .500 mark now.

WASHINGTON — Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas pleaded guilty Friday to carrying a pistol without a license in the District of Columbia, a felony conviction that could jeopardize his future in the NBA.

Arenas pleaded guilty to a single count of violating the city’s strict gun laws as part of a plea bargain in D.C. Superior Court. He will remain free at least until his sentencing March 26.

The charge stems from a Dec. 21 incident in which Arenas acknowledged he stored guns in his locker at the Verizon Center and took them out to play a joke on a teammate.
