:D With a frame like that guy had there is no way he will be playing on a wing! I reckon Back Pocket at best.
I did notice that Pym was chatting happily to him though. Maybe he is luring that half naked guy into a false sense of security!

Really! You seem to be in the know there Razzman. I have read the minutes and there was no mention of anyone resigning (Not that things are always minuted anyway).

I did however get the impression that there may have been some heated discussion regarding finals venue, and the fact that the Board voted in the IDM Sports Tape deal even though the clubs all voted NO at the AGM.

cant believe that the board have voted idm in on a deal,i am invovled with the saafl and clubs there are trying hard to get away from them, trouble is they sponsor the saafl and if they sponsor the apfl they dont allow any thing with elastoplast etc to be seen on the ovals during games, its part of there deal so the apfl will get a big kick back like the saafl and the clubs f*** all,its caused a big stir in town, and so much for suporting local with balaklava chemist looking after teams for yrs with elastoplast, money talks.

I have heard (second hand) that maybe virginia not real happy about being over looked for the grand final and also not real happy about being offered the prelim and medal presentation dinner. After all 2 years ago hosting one of the better nights that has been held over the past years and recieving glowing reports from most that attented, followed by an official complaint by ....... because of the plastic cutlery ha.
Also believe that a virginia board member was told that virginia would never host a grand final while 2 netball clubs operate out of the 1 town???
From an out sider looking in wouldnt virginia be a suitable venue for a grand final? and maybe the indoor court could be used for most of the netball finals?

sorry, but obviously you are an outsider to the APFL!

i heard from a number of people that the medal count that was held there was NOT one of the better ones frmo the last few years. clubs get paid to hold the medal count, & what sort of impression do you give officials, sponsors etc when you hand them plastic cutlery. fine for a sunday bbq (even at a footy club) but not at a leagues "night of nights". i believe there were a number of other factors beside the small issue of cutlery.

they only have 1 inside court, but 2 courts are required at one time for the netball. (therefore leaving the netball spread over 2 courts that are 100+ metres apart!).

the 2 netball clubs in 1 town problem is highlighted during any game against virginia (whether it is at their home or away) as their crowds are 30-50% smaller than against any other team. guess the benefit is that u can rock up at the start of a grade & still get a front row park!!

also, come that time of the year the oval isnt one of the better ones. and has been prone to "flooding" over the last few years!

i think that besides the main 3 ovals used for the GF (Balak, Mall, LP) most APFL fans would think that Virginia would be LAST in line to deserve/warrant a GF being held there.

Fester has absolutely belted the nail on the head there Razzman! Totally agree with what he has said. I would also add that if you speak to any Netballer, their worst court to play on is the indoor courts.

I personally am happy for Virginia to host a Grand Final but before they do so, they MUST be able to field a full compliment of sides. This would include Mini Colts through to all grades of Netball. As Fester said, Attendances are well down when playing Virginia due to their limited teams.

Also, I may be wrong, but with them only fielding 6 teams between footy and netball I would very much doubt their ability to provide enough workers to adequately cater for such a large crowd that a GF will produce.

As for them being offered the medal presentation, I beleive the league has to tender it out to all clubs for the chance to host it. I wasn't at the last one Virginia hosted but I havn't heard too many good reports about it.

Virginia hosting a GF is an interesting one. On one hand you could say that the exposure could help build there reputation enabling them to expand there netball. But on the other hand, hosting a GF should be the reward after a lot of hard work put in to expand there netball teams. Also, as was mentioned earlier, a lot of netballers hate playing on the indoor court surface. What is the current status with Virginia netball ie how many junior & senior teams do they have?

MC, that would be due to the influence from the CFB, KB & GR have this wonderful relationship that has no ending.
So who is running the show out there, the board does what the clubs want in normal circumstances, not the other way around.
How can they overturn a NO vote made at the AGM by the clubs? :shock:Kangaroo court or what?
