Greatest turnarounds in SANFL games

Anything to do with the history of the SANFL

THere is a match I can remember from the early to mid 90s. Was Port v Norwood. I reckon we were 3-4 goals down at the start of time on in the last and we got up and won. Might have been late 94 maybe??

EDIT:

Actually I reckon its Round 15 1992.

Port were 26 points down at 3/4 time to win by 7.

On a slightly different tangent. Has there been a more topsy turvy match than this one?

Port v Glenelg R20 1988

PA 7.1 / 7.4 / 9.7 / 16.9 (105)
GL 2.4 / 10.9 / 13.13 / 14.18 (102)

Port led by 27 at 1/4 time
Glenelg led by 23 at 1/2
Glenelg led by 30 at 3/4
Port won by 3 points.

Nah, would be a game at Alberton, late 1992.

Remember Port being about seven goals down late in the third quarter against Central at Adelaide, 1991.

Down by four goals with ten minutes to play.

Darren Smith won the game with a goal on the siren, literally.

spell_check wrote:It was the fourth game in a row Pesch played (from Round 7, and also the Night Grand Final)

It was also Scott Camporeales' first game for Premiership Points (he played his first senior match in the Night GF).

The only two changes for that match was Camporeale and Romano Negri in for Stuart Totham and Shaun Ballans - his only two matches he ever played were the Night GF and Round 10.

I can only give you the Eagles scorers from that game:
Phillipou 7.3, Kluzek 4.0, Nicol, Thorne 3.1, S.Sziller 2.2, Payze, Pesch 1.1, Taylor, S.Hannam 1.0, J.Sziller 0.1, Rushed 0.6.

Spelly I know better than to argue against you!!! All I remember is Pesch burning in the last half, it was like he brought his own footy!!!
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

there was a similar game between sturt and north at prossie in i reckon 99 where there was a gale blowing, north were 6 goals up at 1/4 time, then sturt were up by a few goals, then north got up again by 1 goal then sturt stormed home to win by 6 or 7 goals.

also, in 97, sturt vs south at noarlunga, south were up 7 goals to 0 or 1 at 1/2 time but sturt came back to win by a few goals or could have been only 1 goal...

spelly can you help here???

I vaguely remember a game at Football Park in the mid to late 80's between West Torrens and Woodville. I would have only been 6 or 7. Dad took me and we had to be somewhere that night so left during the last quarter and Woodville were something like 5 goals up. I remember listening to the radio on the way home and Torrens came back and won. Anyone at that game or have records of it? Or is it all something I made up?

Aerie - reckon it was about '88 - Woodville lost their first 5, but most of these were by less than ten points, and basically stuffed up our season after making the finals the two years before. I rekon the Escort Cup GF win was in the middle of one of these weeks, and the following Saturday we ran out of puff, but don't think it was that Torrens game.

I have a recollection of a Woodville versus West game where the Warriors came back from being 40 odd points down at three quarter time to win the game.

My guess is that the game would have been played in about May of 1984. Does anyone remember that game?

Yes, that was a famous win for us. From memory, unheralded rover Mark Stanton kicked a decent screwie for us to hit the front and even Roger Clift kicked a checkside goal on the run in the dying stages.

There was a game for West Torrens that was won against West Adelaide by a last kick in the late 70's or 80's and I think one of West Torrens Forwards had about 1 kick and that won the game .If I am thinking right it was shot gun greg white or miller and his brother or cousin played as well .
