. Hence his request for a clearance to a club that have guaranteed a spot in their A grade. I guess this approach works for some clubs and not for others, it does explain a few things though
No spots guaranteed out that way swamp. Doesn't mind a spew in fitness work though.
No one is guaranteed a spot in any club. Some things come into play, fitness, form and injury etc.
It has been unfortunate for the young man that these have weighed down selectors in recent years.
He will be spew'n even more, knowing his clearance was knocked back.
Longies expected a knock back from their main foe. It's not going to be hard to fill out another one. Let's hope the the boy stands firm...

Up to this point everyone involved in this proposed clearance (Chappy, Mallala & Longies) have all acted within there rights & how most players & clubs would act. Firstly, Most players get the new club to lodge the clearance these days especially if they are young non confrontational lads. I think a lot players seeking clearances just think this is the norm. Secondly, I would be very surprised if any club just accepts the first clearance lodgment without meeting with the player first. Uniteds policy is to meet with the player to discuss why he wants to leave & if it can be resolved. Clubs at the very least need to know this feedback.
What happens next should be when comments are made.

Ahh, you talk way too much sense Unit, I can see you becoming one of the greats of coaching one day. But yes you are right in that we probably expected the first clearance to be denied. I will save my comments until after the second clearance has been dealt with as I am pretty sure we would deny any intra-league clearances in the first instance as well to give us time to chat with the said player and see where we can improve as a club. As you know we have always done this in the past, but if the player wants to leave they have ALWAYS been cleared.
It seems to me the only people making a fuss over this at the moment is people from Mallala themselves.

Its all been a bit of a tongue in check "fuss" MC, so I wouldnt take it all too seriously mateplus theres not much point having a crack at me, because I have nothing to do with it all, I'm just a hack on here stirring you up (and killing it), however I do look forward to the dialogue on here in the coming weeks. I'm sure things will sort themselves out. You can't always get what you want when you want MC, there are other clubs, people involved other than yourselves, so best be patient and let the process take care of itself.

Mate, I just said that at the moment I don't think its a big deal, and that we would do the same thing in the first instance

Swamp Donkey wrote:My tips for 2010:
United: New coach will bring a fresh attitude and enthusiasm to the group and with Burgoyne and plenty of other fresh faces, should surely press for top spot.
Two Wells: Everyone expects the Roosters to improve on last year. Some big ins to add to their strong list of young fellas. Will be super tough to beat.
Mallala: Expectations are to make top 3 at least after 3 solid seasons. Missing 6 from last years GF side and with 6-8 senior colts pressing for selection, recruitment has been lean this year, however young blood will create plenty of pressure for senior players. Will underachieve if finish lower than 3rd.
HWE: Still plenty of quality running around, and will always win more than they loose due to thier class and experience.
Virginia: Will be between HWE and Virginia for the final spot, have been quite over summer but will push the top sides on thier day.
Balaklava:
Hamley: Hopefully for the comps sake I am wrong and they push for top 4.
