I applaude Aldinga for consolidating its footy by shifting all to Sunday where they can field 14/16 and have one senior side that they surly can field with lads that want to train and move forward.

They can build this around the mini system which is their shining light, and have a full day of footy with goals set to build to the future.

A step back to catch their breath and with good leadership a vision to grow and move forward.

If they nominate sides for Sunday and pull out of Saturday Football, I wonder whether the league will fine them for each side that they have nominated for Saturday.
Will create a dangerous precedent if they don't, as no one will ever pay a fine again for withdrawing a side, as they could quote the "Aldinga Precedent".
I don't think they should be fined, but it will be interesting to see how the boys of the board handle this one. Would be looking for strong leadership from the SFL.

No you cant fine them!

They need support and a foundation to build.

I believe if they continued with Sat footy they would incure plenty of fines as they would struggle to field sides thus forfeits would be the norm.

got confirmation about the ill fate of the aldinga footy club. sad news, but these decisions have to be made sometimes. i know of a couple of shark a graders that, while not being happy about it, are'nt too dissapointed. already have new clubs in mind in a different comp. i also know a few fringe a graders and b graders that pretty much sealed the fate of the club by being lazy and not doing the hard yards at pre season, and just waiting for a couple of weeks before the start of the season to come out. but by then it is too late, and due too lack of numbers, the club now has too fold. perhaps if they got off their arses earlier, this might not have happened? just goes to show that you can't take things for granted, and now there are a lot of life-long sharks with no club to play for. hope you're happy!

I'm shattered to hear this news. I was looking forward to seeing the Sharks taking advantage of the huge population burst down there, but now they are back where Hackham were around five years ago.
Regarding the draw, surely the two March matches must be the first to go. They can't have catch-up rounds where there is an even amount of sides can they ?

As I posted this not terminal just a step back with one senior side to consolidate and build around Sunday footy. Far from folding as a club.

BUT there is still a glimmer of hope to field a's and b's this year. Time to stand up for all those involved in the Aldinga football club. It seems they still have enough senior players they just need them to commit to the club for the 2010 season.

Surely the SFL will assist everway they can.
I do hope though that Aldinga keep the juniors on a Saturday, after all this is the strength of our comp. They will be able to fill the holes created by clubs without juniors and play a good standard of footy rather than against the development sides fielded by everyone bar Brighton on a Sunday.

As far as Sunday footy they wont be able to have the juniors and seniors together on a Sunday in any case as the programming doesn't allow it.

i also know a few fringe a graders and b graders that pretty much sealed the fate of the club by being lazy and not doing the hard yards at pre season

You miss the point Lion Heart those that have been out busting their guts are sick of being flogged because of those that come out the week before the season and put in little or no effort.

Not missing the point at all vics just stating the facts that they havnt quite pulled the pin yet. Having spoken the 3 people involved at the club over the last 24 hours the word coming out is very unlikely to field saturday teams BUT still a slight chance. Wednesday is D day.

IS it not time to seriously consider 2 divisions.

Going to C grade is really Div 2 or maybe even Div 3

I would say that going to a C grade is not as good for the future as fielding As and Bs this year would be. Look where it got us when we fielded only a C grade...5 years later and we won just one game in the 2 years Ive been a Hawk. If they can field As and Bs at least they are in the comp...no one will want to play C grade, and i think they will fold as a club if it comes to that.

There is plenty of blame to go around. But the league who refused to act and the clubs who refused to allow any change, have contributed to the downfall of Aldinga. There are no moral victories when you are getting thumped by the powerhouse sides for the past 8 years.

Now gets even harder for Hackham, Lonsdale, and the rest, who have two less competitive games this season.
Where's Bill? Yeah... Hmm... Bill is on the Villa Quatro, on the road to Salina. I will draw you a map.

Im sorry got the club committee & volunteers who have worked their basksides off for the past 6-8 years, to be let down by some slack arses who can't be bothered committing "yet" cos it's "only March".
(I'll miss their awesome steak sandwiches - reckon they were the best ones in the league)

It sure is easier to lay the blame somewhere else but the majority of the responsibility has to lie in Aldinga's own back yard..

This hasnt happened overnight, but been brewing for many years now. Decisions that have been made long ago in the past will now determine weather the Aldinga Football Club has a future, i hope the sharks do field an A's and B's this season and all players do stay loyal to there club and get them through this tough time.
