Been catching up on what has happened via this site. A big shock to perhaps lose Aldinga as it has always been seen to be a growth area that just needed time to develop into a powerhouse club.

The reasons for not fielding an A and B Grade are no doubt complex and SFL needs to show strong leadership and pull all clubs together to discuss the implications. As stated by others on this forum this will make it even tougher for other clubs who are struggling to win matches.

I have advocated two divisions for years based on the premise any player needs to have the hope of playing finals and that continual beltings will eventually take a toll on the clubs receiving them.

Having said that the current situation is perhaps past that and other ideas need to be canvassed.

You would think the North/South Concept is gone now....or has it? If Morphett Vale and Brighton went to Amateur League that would leave a ten team comp. More importantly that would give Reynella a chance for a Grand Final win!

The winners of the GSFL (10 sides)and SFL (10 sides)can then play off in the North/South conference.

Can't really see Brighton being welcomed back to the SAAFL with open arms seeing they left it 12 years ago. As for Morphett Vale 1-they are 20 kms past the the most southern club in the SAAFL. 2- if they are sick of the lack of competition i'm sure they will get a top notch test week in,week out beginning in div 7....

I can't see the league losing any sleep over this - just one of their problems solved, innit? I reckon they're hoping for the same thing to happen to Hackham and Lonsdale within the next couple of years and for Morphie Park to go to the SAAFL. The next step would be to roll out the red carpet for another Edwardstown and have a 12 team comp.

I think you could be on the money Fisho and pale ale. It would be interesting to hear if the SFL have made contact at all and what are their thoughts regarding this?

My main thoughts are with the coaching staff, Brad and his crew and even Robey have been nothing short of fantastic given the crop they had so will be interesting to see what they do?

You guys can't be serious... There will always be a bottom of the ladder and ten years ago it was the emus. Hard work and a good junior program and 5 flags later that is all forgotten. This might just be the kick in the arse aldinga needs to make people realise that they need to help the few that are working hard. Hackham came back from sun only so can the sharks

Who cares? It's past that point I think, like you've said people who haven't done or had the input before can like it or lump it now. Question, if Aldinga go to just a C grade does this mean you will play another year?

Maybe the club needs a cleanout, have to see whats going on after Wed night, 2 sets of golf clubs needing to be used too. Have to have right motivation for it and the time, maybe it's time for some fresh faces

I'm not sure the massive growth area in Aldinga would be a market the SFL would be willing to give away

Is disappointing to hear of Aldinga - but surely they have thought this right through and they will put an action plan in place to try and correct this. Every club has a struggle stage - and as said on previous posts it takes hard work and committment from all involved to fix it - it CAN be done. I just hope this move doesn't shoot them in the foot in years to come - hopefully they know what they are doing!
I think the league is doing okay and clubs have got stronger by the sounds of it. Everything comes in cycles - hard work by all clubs will see them competitive in the long run.
Who's got trials this weekend people's and where?
