Duffy retires but will coach Roos

Orroroo Football Club has appointed Justin Duffy to another term as senior coach.
The announcement came on the back of Duffy’s declaration that he was retiring as a player after 389 games for the Roos and about 50 games in three seasons at Central Augusta.
The triple Mail medallist and SGFL Madigan medallist said he had no regrets about drawing the curtain on his distinguished career and was now looking forward to getting the Roos back into contention as a force to be reckoned with in Northern Areas.
“We started training on Sunday which is easily the earliest we have begun a pre-season,” Duffy said.
“A fair few of them wanted to get into it so we are starting.
“During last year I thought we had tried a lot of blokes who hadn’t played much A grade and by the end of the year we (still) took it up to most teams.
“So I just think there was a fair bit of improvement there and if we get fit early on with everyone on the track we can hopefully win some early games. The feeling is pretty good - like we can’t go any worse - we finished bottom so we can only go one way.”

Wouldnt say he got shafted. The club was looking at getting another "Import" in and considering Lukes form was terrible and he was close to being dropped they would do the fair thing and were up front with him. He could have still played Bs and if one of the other imports playing A grade was injured (or dropped) he would have been eligible to slot back in. Nice bloke but not up to it in BLG.Jacko wrote:Checksider - what type of players are the Hillebrand brothers.
Hillebrands are good players. One is a back flank type. The other could play almost anywhere, very versatile type and will a headache for most sides I reckon.
Hillebrands are both very good players will slot nicely into southern flinders side. Not suprised they have left Gawler Central, pretty clicky place down there. Nice blokes, pretty handy tennis players too.

Re: Northern Areas gossip
Hi all! Now that the start of the season is getting closer, is there any news on player movements in Northern Areas?

Re: Northern Areas gossip
Crystal Brook played Central Augusta and beat them by about 12 goals last Saturday.
CB looked very good all over the ground, always love to bring the ball back into the centre.

Didnt either West Augusta (or South) give BMW a bit of a touch up the other week. Did hear they were at near full strength but BMW rested a heap and gave their kids a run. One of the McCallums apparently busted a kidney and I also heard Dougal Milne has walked out on the club and might be assistant coach back in Southern Flinders area!

West Augusta played BMW...not too sure on the score but half of the team were so hungover from their cricket triumph.

Re: Northern Areas gossip
I'm told Southern Flinders have signed an ex Central Dist reserves player who has been shopping himself all over the state quoting some ridiculous amounts of money.
Hope you've done your homework boys!
