No Mercy, Freeling didn't win a game last year and would have finished bottom in most leagues, their improvement will only been known later in the season.

Willaston looked very good on Saturday although tended to rely on a few key personnel, particularly the gun in the middle. I believe Birdwood were missing more like 8 starters in the A's, a lot of boys from the B Grade played two games.

By the way, who was the bloke playing on the wing for Willaston with the angry tats? Lot of aggression for a trial game :D :D

Maybe a good time to throw $50 on the panthers while your offering 6/1.
Not quite as concerning as your post.
Hughes - Gone.
Klemm - Possibly upgraded to the veteran program, a mid season return may allow him more time to pull some tits on the farm.
Harvey - Early signs and recovery are better then expected from surgery.

Went as expected daysof.

B's did well to put a full side together with 10 senior players unavailable they got pumped by a fairly fit Birdwood engine room that had a few A graders in the mix.

A's had a very comfortable win, tosold, mitchell and brown look to be handy inclusions and a few first year players got a taste and showed enough to warrant them putting their hand up during the season, Birdwood played a bunch of youngsters with a bit of talent so their future looks pretty bright.

Another trivial game v's Ango's at home this week , i doubt hadd's or ollie will be loading up the guns so should pan out to be depth test for both clubs

Freeling did Ok against Eastern Park. Eastern were playing at home, it was a second trial for them and they had some pretty handy additions to their squad as they are making a big push to get into A1's next season. Not sure how close they were to their strongest team, but Freeling were at least 6 first choice A graders short.
19 goals to 11 with Freeling winning the second half was quite a reasonable first up effort.
As far as comparing league goes ,well you had a team that hasnt won a game for 2 years up against a top A2 team, having a serious crack at making A1's. Nothings changed, as I have said before. Top BLG clubs would be about lower end A1's with the others varying anywhere between A2 and A3 standard depending on the year. Then again it was only a trial. EP have definetely got their share of loose cannons but should do well.

Sounds like Klemm is a classic case of a cricketer who likes to play a bit of footy in his "off" season and has lost a bit of interest Osama. Parish is the same at Freeling. Good to have him back this year, like a new recruit.

Very unusual to see the dedicated footballer/cricketer commit to 12 months of sport these days Drifter.
Mayor Hurn was the consummate package back in my day.

Once again No Mercy you are well off the mark, using Freeling as a yard stick to compare the BLG with the SAAFL is just ridiculous. This is a side you abused last season and now you are using them as a guide, makes me wonder about your footy credentials? Maybe Freeling are 10 goals better than last season but that leaves them about 15 behind the leaders so I would think off Sat result the BLG is looking pretty good.

Based on last seasons side this is how BLG cubs would fare in SAAFL.

Tanunda top 4 Div 1
Angaston bottom 2 Div 1
Nuri Middle of Div 2
G.C Middle of Div 2
Willaston Top 4 Div 3
Barossa Middle Div 3
South Bottom few of Div 3
Kapunda same as above
Freeling Mid to bottom of Div 4

Saying that all these current side (exceptTanunda) would be flogged by 20 goals by some of the sides that have represented these clubs over the last 20 years. So the standard of the league as a whole has definetly gone backwards quite a bit.

Willaston v Angaston at the Graveyard.
Will be a good opportunity to see how the Donnybrooks have shaped over the pre-season, after some recent September talk already coming out of the Donny camp.
Might have a beer with ya Pinchy!

Not sure how good an indication the Willaston V Ango trial will be for anything,
both sides apparently very short-handed for the game, Ango with the best part of 25 players unavailable,
Cricket finals, Vintage and matrimonial committments taking their toll.
