Yep a draw with Reynella and Brighton! after siren Brighton required a point from the 50 and the kicked went out on the full.

Clean sweep at Porties
14 win by 10 goals
16 win by 15 goals
18 win by 30 goals
B win by 15 goals
A win by 5 goals

Great start by the Shoes but only round 1
How is the lad from Porties who required to be rushed to hospital with ambo having to go on oval and game stoppped for 25 min. I hope he is well and has a speedy recovery.

did billings play for reynella if so how did he go ???

yeah he played OK, got caught a few times

Can't believe there is so much on here about whether the umpiring had an effect on the result of a trial game

I haven't got his paperwork yet Cadet, but if it's true, sounds like a good pick up :)

Mostly from non-SFL member though. Assert really just said even Umpires need a trial game hit out :)

Im not one to give it to the umps but after speaking to a brighton supporter after yesturdays game the umps made a massive f*** up in the a grade. Apparently the new rush behind rule that is in the afl has been introduced into the sfl this year. Brighton did get pinged for it during the game and had a free kick awarded against them which resulted in a goal for the flies. This left brighton scratching their heads over the free kick only to be informed at 1/2 time that the umps had told the reynella camp about the rule change before the game and simply forgot to then pass the information onto the brighton camp. I would like to think that most people would think that this is poor form from the umps and that they get a please explain from the sfl.
Anyhow was a cracker game at shoe land with both teams looking good. must say brighton controled alot of the game for no reward with reynella pushing large numbers back. Brookman from brighton did a massive job imo as he rucked most of the game against 3 opponents a went well. As for billings and p32 i wouldnt be over impressed with the days effort. Had there moments but should have controlled more of the game. Heard the b grade was very one sided so the depth for the bombers must be good. Bit of a worry for the b grade comp if the 2nd best team from 2009 has just been knocked off by the best from 09 by 14 goals and reynella were looking to improve. Looks like porties are strugling early on the field and from what i hear around they are a total mess of the field aswell.

The fact was Brighton rushed it through twice in the game and didn't get pinged once. We thought the umpires had forgotton about the rule because it was so obvious. Have to say but it was a cracker of a game and still cant believe he kicked it out on the full.

I gota say the umpiring was fair the crowd has to remember that the umpire has a split decision to make a dicision and what the crowd can see the umire may not be able to due to the umpire being on the other side

Freshy you are not a goal umpire are you sticking up for your mates?

You might be right, spoke to one of his mates last night and he wasnt 100 % sure on the team. His uncle is Steve " bomber " Ryan so Cove doe's sound like the better fit.

disgaree, i reckon if anyone reynella had more of the ball and controlled the game... and brighton were the ones with some lucky frees. but the umpiring was bad bothways, put your whistle away!! also disagree, P32 was good in ruck and defence.
