South's are looking better outfit than last year with half a team to still come in apparently.

In 2 very ordinary displays of football South won the B's by a couple points and got within a kick in the A Grade after being 4 goals down at 3 quarter time, i didn't see much difference in the way they go about it.

Not sure how many games you saw of South last year Pinch but there are some major differences that were obvious for anyone who was at Saturday's game. For starters they have replaced the dead wood with young blokes who are playing with some heart. Given the work done they will probably be the fittest side going around this year and will run games out, unlike previous years. As for a game plan if you couldnt work that one out then I have to question your football knowledge.

Unless Willaston had blokes unavailable South will account for them easily with their inclusions.

Saying that it is still way too early in the Lion's transformation to challenge Tanunda or Angaston but dont be suprised if the other 7 clubs are fairly even.

ps,Aaron Bayliss and Brady Scott could replace at elast half of that best 15 list.

Hey everyone,

im very new to this forum but have been an avid reader for many years.

i was reading the other day about the list of the best 15 players or what ever and i am under the belief that this association has a rule about a certain number of players that have to be under a certain age for the zone game. can anyone comfirm this rule and i know its early but what are peoples thoughts on who will play.

Welcome mate.
There used to be a certain number of players under 23 that had to play. However there is no association gam this year so no need to try and pick them.

Welcome Widget.
The U23 rule was implemented to try and give that younger player one last opportunity to play league footy by exposing them at the top level.
Unfortunately there were kids getting a game who weren't in the top 8-10 players of that particular club making it a joke.
Then Nobby tries to put his competitive EJ Whitten hat on.

Watched all of Souths losses against Willaston last year, few changes in personnel but still playing possession footy and will come unstuck against every half decent team that mans up on them. Only visable change is the new coach losses his shit in the coaches box and not on the oval.. but give him time.

I agree that the new players seem ok so the lions should improve, but the dead wood is a bit rough for a bunch of blokes that held the club together for a decade.

Was on the edge of gaining selection in Media Mikes BL&G top 15 list.
The mad scientist loves his energy shakes.
May find that downing a slab of tubes on a Friday night could just get him into the BL&G top 15 list.

Has he signed Ango to a year deal for Ripped shakes just to boost his sales quotas?? Great bloke, even if he is a bit obsessed with protein shakes!

He's been known to sell ice to the Eskimos and sand to the Arabs.
Look out for the B-TRAIN, six months of protein shakes has him in good shape.

BL&G Footy season less than 48 hours away, shaping up as a cracker

NRFC v SGFC - Two evenly matched teams, one full of recruits looking to impress and one full of proven players mindful of a straight sets exit in the finals last year

WFC v FFC - Again, two evenly matched teams which could be around the mark this season looking to get some early points under the belt.

TFC v GCFC - ...

BDFC v AFC - Match of the round, if you don't have prior commintments, GET DOWN TO WILLIAMSTOWN OVAL!!! Should be a cracker!!!!

Also, from the umpiring side of things, great to see in excess of 50 people at training on Wednesday Night @ Greenock Oval.

Baylis WAS a gun, be knee recons do slow even the best down. As for Scott, if you are banking on him being a gun, well your dreaming. Barely had an impact in the Plains league.... Beefeater, you're off the ball again.... Best of luck to you and your grumpy, over rated coach today
