I still can't believe that after the Sharks nearly collapsed a month before the season was due to begin they get hit immediately with Cove and Morphett Vale. Good one SFL, way to keep them encouraged !!!
Yes I know that the programme might have been decided before this event, but under the circumstances how hard would it have been to make a quick change ? Just switching a couple of rounds would have fixed it.

Just on Aldinga - from an outsiders view they certainly didnt seem like a club that was on the verge of folding. Sure its hard to gloss over the fact that they lost by 40+ goals, but they certainly had enough people round the place, stacks of junors sticking around watching, and on the field they were pretty hard at it in the first half. That blond haired "Tyler" bloke certainly looked like he could play a bit.

Also what did people think of the fluro pink footy used on the day? I certainly didnt get my hands on it too often, but the consensus from those who did was that it was a little difficult to handle - however it was great for visibility!

loved the visibility! got my hands on it at one stage and it seemed a little rounder though! thats play with one all year!

saw a kid with an Orange footy too, reckon that would be cool to play with, the following Morphettvale has I think Aldinga is thankful to play them at home, always bring a decent crowd to watch

loved the visibility! got my hands on it at one stage and it seemed a little rounder though! thats play with one all year!

i got a couple touches of the pink bit, and (in the split second i had) didnt think much different than a normal pill. if anything, it felt like it may have been a little bit slippery, but not real bad. and yes, the visibility was great!

Just on Tyler, he is the younger brother of Joel Harman who usually plays Full forward (atleast he used too). Both came from Blackwood a few years ago and have stuck around. Both are terrific fellas and yes Tyler has a lot of ability. unfortunately work commitments & injury have seen him play limited footy the past few seasons. I hope he has it all under control as he will help Aldinga develop and has the makings of a club captain in the future if work permits. If I was coaching a senior country team, I would want both of them with me ... character & leadership counts for alot.

BTP as we dont have two divisions each club has to take what they get., in the half baked SFL draw. I have seen this written a couple of times now that Aldinga or Hackham should have had an easier start to the season. Fact is we play as 1 Division or comp, so teams just have to get on with it..

We could all complain about our draw in this farce but it falls on deaf ears. We could argue that Cove for example has a shocking draw both for football competition and financially but it will make no difference.

Why doesnt the sfl make the bottom 4 sides from the previous year play in the catch up round easy way to start the draw. They all get a competative game first up. Also are we going to have another week of 2 div topic as its boring. Yes some non close games happend and yes it will happen again next week. But have a look at some afl results some big wins there. I would say 50+ points at that level is a flogging. Look at the results in the gsfl as well not to many close games in that. So it happens in every comp.

All clubs start on a high. It's from mid season on that the going gets tough. And it's not just fitness.Teams of lesser ability hang on for a time just by working as hard as they possibly can. However they reach a point where it becomes no longer physically possible to do that and they fall by the wayside. That is no doubt what happened Saturday to several teams. Let me say that it will only get tougher, mentally for all these bottom teams.

Can I also say most people don't question the endeavour of the bottom sides. Those players try their guts out. It's just their teams as a whole are just not able to compete with the top six or seven sides.

not sure why most seem to be dismissing Valley this year? Lost a prelim to the eventual winner and their list has improved with apparently a very good CHF and Squire back is nearly as good as any recruit in the comp! Granted their coach is no good, but the players will be extremely competitve against the BIG 4. They may well finish in the 4 once again!

Well Happy Valley were extremely impressive on the weekend as much as we were very bad. They were a very switched on unit on the weekend, they exploded out of the gates and never gave us a look in. They have some quality talls. Ben Squire at Full Forward is a great target for them and a good size lad - even good size hair. Was very hard to stop him, very mobile and great overhead mark. Think it's May at CHF also gives them a great target played very well, they have a good spine of talls. Scott McKenzie was awesome at CHB. Well drilled side and I think after the weekend they will be definately be a top 4 finisher and contender I believe after the weekends performance.
Hurts saying that but B.Porter has the guys playing pretty impressive football at the moment.

This Saturday Aldinga Sharks will be the host ground for the Ellie Rose Sampson tribute game. Sadly Ellie Rose Sampson passed away recently at just 6 years old. Ellie is the daughter of Dylan Sampson from Morphett Vale and niece of Aldinga A grade coach Brad Whyatt, both who have worked to make the day possible.

This is a cause dear to all involved and it is great to see two opposition clubs come together to support a great cause! A grade will be playing with a pink footy in recognition in tribute to Ellie. Fundraising will be conducted all day with proceeds going to the Cancer Council of Australia. Please come down and show your support for a worthy cause.

Good post Fisho!!!! Is a great idea to pay tribute to such a great family and pay respects to their loss while raising some money for a great cause. (I thought it was for the womens and childrens Paediatric Intensive Care Unit..... But both are worthy causes).

Im sure all players and supporters can have one less beer on saturday and at least chuck a fiver into the tin.

It was actaully the Womans and Childrens Hospital ICU, unfortunately the FB Sharks page administrater had a bit of Barry Hall and wrote down the wrong charity... On the plus side I did see the collection bucket on the Sharks Veal Bar almost full by the A grade half time. Well done to all those who gave up their money to a worthy cause!

Watched Aldinga go down by forty-odd goals yesterday - but here's what wasn't shown on the scoreboard:

Vale blew the game open in the second half, which wasn't surprising - all about fitness there. But the first half was a much closer contest. One thing that struck me was how Aldinga went out there and took them on. A couple of years back you'd see this team go out there expecting to lose and not giving much of a s**t about it either because it was inevitable. There was none of that yesterday, the Sharks went in hard and gave 100%. Not having watched them play last week and reading all the negative stuff about them on here, I was really surprised, in a good way. The other thing I noticed was that even though Aldinga ran out of legs in the end, I still couldn't see any of that defeatist, complacent attitude that was so prevalent around the club a couple of years back. I don't think a single person out there thought yesterday's effort was good enough, or that they thought they couldn't do better. To me it proves something I've said for a while now - you can't buy success. This time Aldinga are starting from the bottom up, with players that are hopefully going to stick around, and with the positive mentality I saw yesterday, I reckon the only way is up.

B.O.G from both clubs as voted by the umpires, Tyler Harmon from Aldinga. If only we had ten more of him! Didn't soften the beating though...
