Good to see people are starting wake up to some of the thugs in this comp who get put on a pedestal by their club as being a stalwart and a good hard "fair" player, when really they are just snipers, who get a blind eye from the umpires or if reported their club sends the infantry down to the tribunal and paint the bloke as an angel. The guy in question has been doing this for years. The club mentioned has another ageing former star who has been on the angry pills for a few years. I thought you are supposed to retire when you can no longer get a kick. The mob we played on Saturday has another who falls into that category. Still a very good player and loyal servant to his club, but has been way out of line with some of his actions the last 3 times we have played them. Losing or playing in a struggling side is no excuse for taking it out on the opposition with fists and elbows. One of his incidents on Saturday occurred just after he dived on a loose ball and then rolled into the legs of a stationary Brighton player making a bit of contact to his own head and shoulder region. He then laughibly remonstrated for not receiving a free and proceeded to throw a punch tackle at the next contest he was involved in.

Don't bitch about things and do nothing. If the umpires fail to report, remember that you also have the power to report. Do it!

PS I think that it's a bit rich coming from the club at which the Draper boys played.

Poor poor brighton what a joke you would think your team has never done a dirty thing the players that just got mentioned caused trouble on the and of the feild at local games and you loved to cheer for them all teams have players like that its up to the club to punish them because the sfl dont have the balls to do it.I think moe may have said karma will get those who dish out the dirty hits i call it the football gods getting one back.

Club reporting is fraught with problems and just strains relations between clubs over the actions of some wacker on the field. Sure, if a bloke gets king hit behind play and is witnessed by a club official fair enough, but when these things happen in play then its the umpires job and nobody elses in my opinion. What does a club report achieve anyway. The guy may get 1 or 2 weeks at best but he will still be out there next time you play them and probably more likely to belt someone again as revenge against the club who dobbed him in. As Moe said, you just hope karma catches up with some of these blokes.

Or he may just behave himself next time if he thinks that your club has the balls to report him again

Courtney Fish - not sure who you think our Captain is. As Panther said it would be uncharacteristic of him and he is honest enough to own up if he did do it. Trust me he remembers every stat and incident that occurs to him during a game, good and bad (not just left foot goals and look away handballs). He has zero idea of what you claiming, so either get the right guy or get the story straight.

If the incident was infact 'off the ball' I'm assuming your short guy was standing upright. For 'the captain' to run in at pace and make shoulder connection with his head, your bloke must be a lot shorter than me and I'm only 5"7. Note when a guy bumps he also needs to lower his body to create enough force ("smashed") to take someone out for a whole quarter. Next time, leave your sarcasim elsewhere and tell us what is actually the problem. What happened to your other three blokes in the first three quarters? I hope they are OK and they werent victim of a mysterious hit off the ball too...

PS. Dont bother replying coz I wont. I'm simply sticking up for a good bloke who has been wrongly accussed!

Moe
If you waited to get your facts straight you would know that it wasn't a king hit it was a gurnsey punch then the group went to ground where number 23 coped a knee that split him open, the melle was then broken up by number 7 yelling stop he's hurt.

If the playing group were all so dirty on him how come they said they new it wasn't number 7 that split number 23 and no retaliation was sort, plus players where seen having a beer in the club with porties number 7 after the game.

And on porties not having a beer in the club after, i was at a table of porties boys and the Morphie president bought us 2 jugs and said if my players wont come back i'll drink with you guys.

Do you pick and choose what you see Moe....

5 metres??? And then some!!!
A 'fair' bump would not have resulted in the lions player being knocked unconscious nor would the quality umpires that were there (tongue in cheek) have awarded a free kick to the Lions player. The Reynella player had eyes only for the player and should have at the minimum have been sent off the park. At the time, Reynella were 20 goals up and had no need for any such lowly attack on a player off the ball. The lions would have been within their rights to submit a club report on the incident.

Dion, who played twice the games for Brighton of Dunc and Clint combined, has got you guys as bluffed as the opponents he played against. Dion used to use plenty of mouth and tell people he'd belt them like the last bloke, but most of it was the biggest con job ever. People thought he was a thug because he'd tell them he was. The only time he may have hit someone was if that someone had belted a Jolly or a Tucker first. Fairs fair. He didn't go around and snipe for the hell of it. The Bombers were branded soft pretty boys for our first few years in the SFL and copped heaps without having the cattle to dish it back. Guys like the Drapers and the Betterman twins helped us earn a bit of respect and we've never been labelled soft since.
