Once again punishing the clubs who work their arse off and do the right thing.

Bullshit. You honestly think clubs don't work their arses off?
I tell you what, take prime time games, ANZAC Day games, Queens Birthday games, Friday nights etc away from certain clubs & give them to the Western Bulldogs, North, Port, St Kilda, and then give the Essendons, Collingwoods, Carltons & Richmonds the Saturday twilight, early Sunday & Sunday twilight games for 4 or 5 years in a row - then see how "working your arse off" goes.
Sponsors will drop off real quick, as will memberships.
Of course this will never happen, the AFL won't allow it.
This tax is their way of saying "we know the fixture is unfair, we know we pander to certain clubs, but we'll implement this tax to at least look like we're attempting some sort of even playing field" - yeah right.

Crap, just face it some clubs dont draw no matter what timeslots they get. Collingwood nearly shut the doors before Eddie got there but he has built them up to what they are now, same with Hawthorn who nearly had to merge but got together and worked their way out if strife. Richmond's transformation off field has been amazing also.
Yes Essendon get ANZAC day but only get 2 Friday night games ( both against North ) and yet we still get decent crowds and memberships and have NEVER been given a AFL handout. We are playing the worst of any side in the comp and still get half decent crowds. There are some clubs that no matter how many Friday night or marquee games they get will still never get a decent crowd

Good, you can have 4 Sunday twilight games in a row then.
If you want to go quickly, go alone.

If you want to go far, go together.

Reckon we had several last year. We actually requested more Saturday traditional timeslots and less night games

Heck, you're not trying hard enough, Wedgie, you couldn't fit 119 into that as well?

Glad that Geelong supporters on here are happy, as Hawkins is a player who seems to attract some derision from Cats fans - close to a love/hate relationship. And some will point to that game and say that he's living off it - that's the only thing he's done of note. I disagree, I reckon a good big man is invaluable (shit, I have to believe that...Cloke).
You're my only friend, and you don't even like me.

Just confirms they are a legitimate challenger to Richmond and Port for biggest bandwagon supporters in the comp

How do you work that when we're averaging more than 2k per game larger crowds than 3 years ago?
In fact average crowd has hardly changed in 20 years.
Hawthorn on the other hand are getting 20k extra per game from 20 years ago.
Pretty obvious who the bandwagoners are.

The figures are damning when distinguishing clubs as bandwagonners in both the AFL and SANFL though.

Successful return for Menzel. 17 disposals (14 contested), 10 clearances and a heap of tackles in 3 quarters, sat out the last.

Serious question to REB - do you think Geelong will move on some of your older guys at seasons end, and if so who? I think its a real tricky one for you guys, as a number of them have been fantastic servants of your club..... Would like to see one of the younger SA boys drafted recently get a game but he has not cracked one just yet. Been close, but had an injury setback I think, that has played a part....Interested on your take on that as well... do they start getting games into the young blokes REB?

Interesting point, one that was made on Fox the other night, some players should get the luxury to call it a day where some get told, Geelong have many in this category, you wouldn't want a mass exodus in the same year, they are going to have to push some out the door unfortunately.
