RE: SANFL Community Football | COVID-19 | Return to Play Update | 25 May
Once again, we appreciate your ongoing leadership as we navigate the Return to Play Roadmap for football in South Australia.
Positively, the hard work and dedication from our Leagues and Clubs adhering to Level B Return to Training protocols have demonstrated that we are capable of delivering the required safeguards to move into the next stage of our roadmap.
The State Government has today announced that the next stage of the SA Roadmap to Recovery has been brought forward to Monday, 1 June 2020, including advice that contact training for outdoor sports can commence from this date also.
It was also announced that competitions for outdoor contact sports can also commence/resume from Friday, 26 June 2020.
SANFL is waiting on further detail and advice from the State Government, which will enable us to finalise our protocols to move into Stages 3 and 4 of the SANFL Roadmap. Once this is received, SANFL will confirm a date for football clubs to commence contact training. As per previous correspondence, SANFL is committed to ensuring our Leagues and Clubs are prepared and educated to deliver COVID safe environments.
*** SANFL will provide a further update on Stage 3 Training – i.e. Contact Training – and associated protocols as soon as we have received further detail and advice from the State Government ***
While we have yet to receive confirmation on the ability for spectators to attend matches, we are buoyed by the early relaxation of restrictions, as well as the increase of patrons permitted inside venues. We are confident that this will be considered favourably in future.
With respect to a return to competition and when/if spectators may return (including the provision of food and beverage), we will provide further information at the meeting of League Presidents/Secretaries on Tuesday, 9 June 2020 at 6:00pm.
We thank you for your continued work, support and understanding as you lead your football clubs and communities through this period.
Training until further notice must remain as per the Stage 2 Return to Training Protocols.
SANFL will provide a further update on Stage 3 Training – i.e. Contact Training – and associated protocols as soon as we have received further detail and advice from the State Government.
Please see the following key resource/information for SANFL Return to Play: https://sanfl.com.au/returntoplay/
Take care and stay safe.

Would like to see how many country kids are playing in the city.
I'm sure it would be more than what travel the other way!!
Country clubs need to have travellers to fill their sides. There isnt the population in the towns.
Yes some blokes get paid well, but most enjoy the club atmosphere of country footy, which is way better than the city footy.

Like all of us waiting for the OK for crowds to be allowed, but with the added complication of have a team in Victoria and also a number of Victorians playing for SA teams which obviously causes many headaches unless the borders are reopened also.

With the way Victoria is still going, I cannot see the borders opening until the end of winter, Did the premier not say that on "Today this morning"

Re: COVID-19 (Country)
What is the likelihood that clubrooms and changerooms are going to be able to open and operate as normal when/if country footy returns?
I can think of a fair few clubrooms which are relatively small and generally jam-packed on Saturday & Thursday nights, as are most changerooms on gameday & training nights.
I can't imagine restrictions are going to be relaxed enough for this to occur by July. Given that social distancing is tipped to be around for some time.

All depends on stage 5 start day and what the crowd limit is, assuming everything keeps going well you would expect the 4th of July potentially as a start date.

Re: COVID-19 (Country)
[Im reliably informed all netball being canceled is alot qbout the onerous guidelines placed on clubs. Each team needs a covic 19 officer. Thats 18 different people for club with all teams in BL&G. Manual recording if everyone there. Cleaning between every game would make it impossible to fit all the games.
None of this is likely to change.
Also netball SA still wants full affiliation fees from every player meaning clubs would have to charge full fees but for only half a season.
Sorry for the netball talk on a footy forum
This crap us going way too far

Re: COVID-19 (Country)
And no refunds if season doesn't go ahead. Most netball leagues also paid a deposit last year which is gone.
There is rumours of a court case which may partly explain why money is an issue.

If you don't like it, change it. If you don't want to change it, it can't be that bad!

Sectioned outdoor areas with gazebo's will be the new norm, 20 per section with a dotted walkway to the serving area.

Are Netball SA financial strife? That's a disgrace if they are forcing associations hand by not making it financially viable. Giving female footy a huge bonus also.
