Jacob Crate looked to still have it.
Rod Mitchell well aware of him but a long way to go.

The Macclesfield midfield looks to run pretty deep and that may be where they might have an edge?

Only 4 rounds to go - split round is now done (bit strange with only a 14 game season) was there any talk of extending this at the start of the year - and any reason why they decided only to go for the 14 game (understand it makes sense with playing each other twice) but would have to be one of the shortest competitions in the state I would have thought?

Looks like the top 5 is pretty well going to be decided this weekend - if Meadows are able to get over Gumeracha then it makes it interesting for 5th spot and Gumeracha will need to knock off Echunga, Macclesfield. As Meadows have Birdwood & Torrens Valley after Gumeracha - which you assume they will get the win. I cant see Gumeracha getting over Echunga or Macclesfield so will be a great contest this weekend up at Gumeracha.

Mount Pleasant Oval in the news this week. There was whispers that perhaps the TV V Kersbrook match last week would be the last game of footy played on that oval. Whilst the oval is a shadow of it's former self, I hope the Lions don't lose the rights to continue playing on it. A lot of Div 2 HFL history and they even had a SANFL game played on Mount Pleasant during it's peak.

Looks like the top 5 are set now

Macclesfield look like they will enjoy the 1st week of finals off
Kangarilla and Kersbrook look like the next likely ones to play on the Saturday Final
Echunga and Gumeracha to play the elimination

Is anyone going to go close to Macclesfield now with their extra mid $ea$on recruits?

To Be fair, it's only 1 and he is a 0 pointer that isn't playing on Saturday anyway

Bridgewater made it's intentions clear of returning for 2026 last night. Chris Ladhams appointed Footy Director.

Hope they can bring 4 sides to Hills Country (14s,17s, B & A grade)

That's a big step up considering they only won 2 games in C grade.
Where are they going to get the extra numbers for 2 senior teams and how competitive do they expect to be?

Echunga showed on Saturday that they'll still be right in the hunt.
Probably down to the top 3 now but hard to dismiss Kersbrook entirely, as long as they get over Gums on Sunday

Both Hanna's & Nick Ingram have re-signed with Warracknabeal

It's good to hear they have been working towards this and think they can achieve it, however from a distance I'm surprised they managed it so quickly. Maybe they think if they don't know they never will again? Or do they have a good crop of kids coming through the older colts over the next couple of years?

Hopefully TV can improve themselves, which I know they are working hard at, and then we'd have a great comp. 9 teams, play each other twice for 16 games, 2 byes, perfect.

Will Gums field sides next year?

Macclesfield are there.
Deserved for the long standing volunteers & committee, who have stuck fat through many years of adversity.

Last nights Mail Medal Winners

Junior Colts: Hayden Clark (30 votes) - Meadows
Senior Colts: Trent Duthie - Kersbrook

Seniors on Wednesday Night. Brett Turner (Echunga) showed Sunday he's the best player in the competition but might have missed a few games too many to win.

Should be a cracking game Saturday between Kangarilla and Echunga. The winner will definitely fancy their chances against Macclesfield the week after!

Southern Town Feels to this years Hill Country Grand Final.
No real surprises through the grades but Maccy’s B grade probably the biggest casualty not making it.

Junior Colts: Meadows vs Kersbrook
Senior Colts: Kersbrook vs Echunga
B Grade: Kangarilla vs Meadows
A Grade: Maccelsfield vs Kangarilla

One club is going to end a long ‘A’ Grade premiership drought at 5pm on Saturday at Meadows
