North Pines flogged by Central United.

Hamley Bridge beat Angle Vale by 30 goals.

Wow... Not ideal, obviously hard to gauge with all of the variables that go with trial games but still not great for confidence..

We had low numbers on the Friday night and I thought we played ok in the first half. Would have been maybe a goal or 2 in it. CU had loads more numbers and once Dutchy started playing more A graders they ran away with the game. Score line does not bother me to much was just good to get a run in to the lads.

#8 with the red hair carved it up for Ingle Farm. Will definitely need a hard tag all year

Q, given you seen both sides 1st hand last season, interested to know your 1st impressions of both sides from what you seen yesterday, where do they sit compared to last year do you think?

Huge thanks to Knowlesy and the Ingle Farm Football Club yesterday in what was a great hit out for both clubs. All games were played in good spirits and we certainly got out of it what we needed. I feel honored to be the inaugural winner of the Riddle/Knowles Cup of which I was drinking out of all night :D . I wish IFFC all the best for the upcoming season, my old mate Wayne has made them a much improved unit this year both on and off the field and they will give this division a red hot shake. Thanks also to Houghton FC for the use of their facilities and Q for manning the bar, much appreciated. Good Luck in 2013 to both clubs.

I saw the game and I thought the two teams looked pretty even. Ingle farm were a little bit behind on the fitness side, that is why they got run over in the last quarter!

To me it looked like the small ground with small wings did not suit their style of play, particularly Ingle Farm. They tried to play on quickly as they moved out of defence, the on ballers took the game on and tried to run to space however it's hard to find space on Houghton Oval and they found themselves running into trouble! There were a lot of stoppages and ball ups and the game did not flow as quickly as I expected.

When ML strung a few passes together and hit their targets they moved the ball quite well from defence to attack and looked pretty good.

The red head guy mentioned in a previous post was good in the first half of the first quarter then I didn't think he carved it up too much after that, he played well in patches! He was swapping on the half forward flank and seemed to get bypassed when he was there probably because of the small oval!

All in all I didn't see anything from either team that suggested they are red hot favourites for the season! Not sure who was missing but I guess it is only a trial game!

This is my opinion only based on what I saw so bare that in mind before drilling me if you don't agree!

We wouldn't even be talking about this guy if he didn't occasionally post on this site. ;) Although everyone was just pleased to see him make it thru without an injury after being sidelined for around 2 years.

Was a good hit out & played in good spirits. Oval was pretty tight, but in good condition. I think the valley breeze also made it tough for both teams.
The first trial is always hard to get a gauge on as teams get used to the match style pressure, but I'm sure both teams will continue to improve.

The Riddle/Knowles cup was a very nice touch, an idea that was launched on Sa footy!

Thanks mate, appreciate the summation. Always interesting to hear how others perceive things, obviously people involved in each side would want to be upbeat and confident as see all the positives etc, so it's sometimes hard to gauge an accurate understanding of how it went.

Angle Vale getting busy with the clearances, though I've heard a couple of their better players won't be pulling on the boots this year.

Flinders would want to get a wriggle on if they are going to get their apparent recruits on the books wouldnt they?

Any truth to the rumor that Cam Carroll will be back playing with shocs this season?
