The whole Biggest Loser concept is dangerous. The training load applied on those people looks far too much too soon. I've never had a personal trainer but I find it hard to believe that they would smash an massively obese person they way they do on the show. Do you really need to chuck your guts up to train effectively? No wonder some of these guys are going back to old habits like a nice comfortable coat. regards, REB
Absolutely REB. That level of exercise at that sort of weight is asking for major joint and cartilage problems, as well as being unsustainable.
Set the goal to get to 95 by June 2011. With the reward of doing my long awaited sports trip to the US in October 2011 if I can do it.
Trying not to be cold turkey about it but get into a regular habbit that will see this stay down.
ie have breakfast every day, avoid the snacks or massive meals, and at least 40 minutes of some exercise (walking for me) on a daily basis. Generally has worked well.
Got down to 117 by late November, up to 121 by Jan 1 (on holidays, less exercise, eat more at social events).
Current weight 119 with a goal to be at 112 or better by start of SANFL season.
That's even more dangerous than just staying obese.

Would it be anymore dangerous than being the weight they were?

That is open to conjecture. What is not is that show promotes a training regimen that is dangerous WITH supervision and doubly dangerous for anyone doing it on their own....and all in the quest of ratings.

Good luck. Do you actually intend to be severe on yourself and not take your sports trip if you are over 95kg at your deadline?
Pretty much, It's a public thing to me keep me accountable with friends and family to set some motivation to put in the hard yards.
That said I will need to book a few months ahead so if its 1-2 kgs in it might let it slide, cetainly have to get under 100kg before anything is booked.
I've been wanting to do this trip for almost 20 years but things keep coming up.

Does the show ever suggest that the way they do it is the best way? I wouldn't know, I don't watch it.
Been off the air and away from computers for close to a month, which was a very good thing. Think I officially slipped out to 98 in a bad Christmas period, but back to a boring 95 now
Roger Woodcock -- 602 goals from a forward flank makes you a legend.
Just told the missus to throw out the scales, after a huge Xmas and New Year done nothing but sit behind a computer for the month doing work assignments and arranging footy stuff, reckon weigh in tomorrow will be my heaviest yet FebFast might yet become a reality in the Locky hold
