From all accounts mate there getting a few at training. Apparently they have some newish gym facilities and are training both on and off the field 3 nights a week. Picked uo a few from Winfield Royals so it should be an interesting season for them

Not sure exactly, one of the lads had been there for a while, cant remember his name, pretty handy apparently. I think the Brauer brothers are back along with the McPhersons.

Re: SAAFL Div 5 2008
Gday all,
First post of what shall hopefully be many.... so go easy on me
Joined up due to obvious lack of golden grove input. Feel free to ask me anything about the club.
After reading the thread thus far feel as though i shuld answer/rebut a few things.
First thing regarding the facilities and clubrooms. Currently they are average at best
but as you would all be aware the club recieved a much publisized grant from the federal government to ammend this issue. I can tell that the plans are drawn for a facility of top quality and all that stands between it and its construction is the beauracratic bulls*** and redtape from the council etc. A second oval of better quality surface (due to no cricket pitch) will also be part of the renovations but dont expect to have a run on this until 2009.
In terms of Ashley Mitchell (the coach) being arrogant, i must admit he is vocal from the sidelines and very passionate but do not assume this to be arrogance. One of the nicest, family orientated, giving and caring blokes you will ever meet and a damn good coach to boot.
Regards to the Modbury thing. Shane Scudds is the only definate to come across so far, but there is talk of a few more. Obviously his younger (arguably better) brother sam but i will keep tight lipped about the rest. Dont think for one second we are 'poaching' via mitch. Modbury apparently have a few internal/player group issues. Nothing major but enough to have a few heads turning towards harpers field.
Other than that recruiting and training is looking ace with another group of very talented U/18's entering the already youthful senior ranks. Numbers for the first session were in the 80/90's and that is before alot of the senior blokes (Sparnon, Parrish, Peterson etc) return.
Night games will also be on the agenda. Probably another Friday night round 1 and expect an offer of a Saturday night blockbuster against Blackfriars due to the already strong rivalry and mutual respect between the sides.

Re: SAAFL Div 5 2008
Thats enourmous,I have never heard of those numbers on a training track. At best last year we got approx 60 on the track, with numbers like that you would not think they will be around div 5-6 for too long.......
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

To answer all questions....
yes we will be having a d-grade this year. Will be mostly made up of the c'grade from last year as last years under 18's will make up the majority of the c's. That massive turnout also included the enitre u/18 squad. They do a full senior preseason. Also out was handful of preselected U/16's who will get the oppurtunity in the b's or a's this year. It's a great feel around the club at the moment. Extremley proffesional. A new fitness coach on board as well, plus a few players within the group are Human Movment students/graduates so the approach to conditioning this year is becoming very precise and scientifically based. One or two of the lads have been getting some swimming coaching and training into them as well to widen the cross training base. Im expecting more to be involved in that program soon.
Dont want to sound like im blowing our own horn here but in just thought i would give you as much info as possible without giving away too many secrets.
I dont want to be one to start false rumours but the latest news i have is that Golden Grove can expect to see a fair bit more of there SANFL boys this year. By that i mean Skinner, Cavanagh (both Norwood reserves) as well as Jimmy Thomas from centrals. Shepphard has been asked back out to centrals after being cut a few years ago (work out why they cut him in the first place) but he is also training full time with the Burras and is still making his mind up if he really wants to play SANFL.
Might ask the blackfriars boys a question. What the deal has been with Nick Marwe. Played u/19' footy with sparnon and a few othe GG boys and word was he might be leaving SPOC and if he did he would be making the choice between blacks and GG. I know we have had contact with him but no further i have no further info.
Cheers

so take 40 away from the number u got 40/50..numbers still rubbery imo but good luck to ya if its correct
