I did post this originally only because I thought people needed to know the risk. I didn't intend to say anything else on this forum thereafter, but just leave it as an aside. However, I felt the need to reply to some of the weird responses I got rather than let them go.
The aggressive and irrational responses here do suggest the idea that the brain is modified by gaming is correct. I don't belong to any religion or cult, and always start out from a sceptical position with anything new I come across. I've been watching this type of research for a while, and there is now enough of it to give it some credence, and to sound a note of warning to those at risk.. (Even the W.H.O. is urging caution - as I pointed out when you called it "dribbe" and "fake stats".)
Sorry if I offended you Psyber. I did try and take a humorous response, but I see now you are very serious about this issue.
As I am a huge fan of videw games, can you recommend something I would enjoy? I am currently playing minecraft, and even though it is one of the least violent games I have ever played, it's community is full of the weirdest gamers I have ever encountered. I am considering buying Battlefield 3 on the xbox, and although it is violent, to win online does involve a considerable amount of teamwork and strategy (using your brain).
P. S. Don't suggest reading a book or sport as I have just finished 2 books and play golf and go fishing as often as my working life allows.
Do it, i am getting it for xmas and cant wait, i play at my mates place all the time and there is heaps of strategy and using your brain involved in the game! i love it...

My laptop is just....just not powerful enough to run it. In for a laptop upgrade very soon, and will buy it on PC then. You can blow my head off, but I will get your dog tags. I got a mate at work dog tags, and used to wear a set to work. He spent about 18 months trying to get mine, even removed me from xbox friends list so I wouldn't know he was online. One day while sniping, I sensed someone behind me. Just as he was about to knife me, I spun around and shot him. He reckons he nearly cried. The game starts again in 10 mins.

Knitting. Make me some booties, beeatch.
Looks to hard and frustrating. I'd end up putting a needle through someone's leg.
