Re: Port Adelaide 2016
I will preface this by saying that Polec's defensive efforts (not just on Saturday) need serious addressing, but:
Ken and the coaching staff rightly identified Stringer as an opposition player who could win the game off his own boot. The Krakouer match-up worked wonders for the first 3 quarters, with Stringer hardly getting a kick.
Now- Beveridge makes the move, shifting Stringer to the wing to get him more involved. He goes to Polec, widely renowned as Port Adelaide's most unaccountable player. This wasn't targeted by Beveridge- it just happened to work out that way.
Not one of Port Adelaide's coaching staff looked at that and thought "shit- that match-up could get out of hand real quick", and either sent Krak to the wing to follow him, or looked at a match up such as Ebert. 3 minutes later, Stringer has 2 goals on the board, Port's 3 qtr time lead eroded and all the momentum is with the dogs- and stayed that way for the remainder of the match.
Polec was rightly questioned by his team mates, and supporters, but that was as much poor coaching IMO.

Re: Port Adelaide 2016
The second goal Polec was playing in the middle at a ball up. No doubt the dogs coaching box said to Stringer for a short spurt we want you to run with Polec as he will not check you properly. Probably after the first goal Polec put himself in the middle to lose him, Stringer followed him and well we know the rest. Outstanding tactical move that only needed to work for 3-4 minutes on this occasion.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

Schulz to return through the Magpies this weekend. Hinkley looking to get a game into him at SANFL level before our R15 game against the Tigers.
Welcome back Schulzy!

Probably the last roll of the dice for the fella, hopefully with positive results as I think regaining Paddy, hopefully Lobbe remembers how to ruck and then they can free up Westhoff to roam up and down the field where required the most.

Re: Port Adelaide 2016
Excellent to have Schulz back, hopefully he gets some touch, the Magpies have a win and he's looking at AFL selection after the bye.
We really are going to rue the 2 point loss to Carlton and the 3 points to the Doggies when round 23 is complete......
Said at the start of the year without Ryder and Monfries we were hamstrung, throw in the injuries we've had since and a spot a game or two out of the 8 is where we'll be. **** it.
I think the Eagles are looking the most vulnerable form wise, plus the loss of Nic Nat, but they've got a cruisy draw for the next month or so. Finishes a bit harder, but they'll be a couple of games ahead of us by then.

Re: Port Adelaide 2016
How we've gone against teams according to ladder position, showing the round we played them, home or away, and the margin.

Re: Port Adelaide 2016
Our winning margins over the teams below us suggest we should be better against the teams above us...
Geelong, Adelaide and GWS games ( rounds 2,4 and 5 ) effectively finished our season.

I think 8th spot is up for grabs. WCE are without Nic Nat for pretty much the rest of the season and now have no Lycett this week for disciplinary reasons and they are not playing very consistent footy anyway. That last spot is definitely there for the taking for Port, Melbourne and Carlton.
I cant see Melbourne beating Sydney this weekend and Port are a huge chance to beat Freo even though its in in Perth. Win this week and Port's finals chances are still very much there

Port can't afford to slip up from now. Its finals footy all the way for them. otherwise time to break out the catalogues for Bali

When you look at Port's next 5 games it doesn't bode well for them. Freo, Richmond, both winnable, but then Hawks, North, GWS. Tough fixture for the Power and they have to rely on WCE, Crows and the Giants slipping up along the way to help their finals cause.

West Coast have a glorious 6 weeks ahead, they have a rough last 3, by then they'll be well ahead of Port.
Melbourne and Carlton are not even close to playing well enough.

Disagree, they've beaten Essendon in Perth and Brisbane in Brisbane, don't be fooled by that "form".
