Ross is the type of operator where you either win it in the first couple of years with him or he will lose the players with his style.

I think most teams need a younger coach these days.

Roo this morning said that there will be a golden handshake.
Not the full amount but an amount to show their support and appreciation.

fair enough. Don doesn't have 'sacked' on his resume and Crows don't have to pay him out full contract. Win win.

Brisbane have done ok with an older coach... just saying

Sounds as though man-management might play a big part in the criteria for the next coach and by all reports that’s a strength of Lyon’s. Still think it unlikely they’d go that way. Crows have done alright out of first time senior coaches so you’d think someone along the lines of Truck, Burns, Mitchell.

It depends on how you define good?

It's unfair for a Hawk supporter to judge other coaches as your one is the length of Flemington ahead of any other one getting around.

Adelaide I feel will go for an older, more experienced coach who has been there and overseen all departments-Not necessarily as head coach though. The reason why Brisbane have done so well was that the AFL assisted them in getting an exceptionally strong coaching panel - Not just the coach. The man Adelaide I reckon will go for is David Noble and he is very strong in the media too.

Adelaide need to go out all guns blazing and get a strong coaching panel too- Whether they do any of this remains to be seen.
Can you bring a man to his feet when defeat is on repeat?

The panel is Roo, Fagan, a board member and an external source (both not named yet)

For Clarko, his strength is just how adaptable he is. He makes changes on the fly while seemingly not changing a lot. Others like Scott and Longmire in particular have a good plan but look non-plussed and reluctant to change during a game and tend to rely on 'so and so from the backline up forward' as a kind of token move. I think Fagan is good as he has the Clarko type game plan with some individual touches, sort of like Hardwick. I think Lyon is a good coach but the demands he appears (from the outside) to make on the playing group don't appear to be sustainable over a longer period of time.

I think the most important factor, besides adaptability, is the ability to learn from past mistakes and that is something that Buckley has appeared to do while our guy Scott seems incapable of it. It could be worse though, we could have Goodwin or Hinkley.

REB

Clarko has the ability to plan ahead but live for the day too, Hawthorn always remain strong while they're apparently rebuilding.

He's not scared to rotate the list even if it means getting rid of stalwarts, he has made the club so impressive from the outside good players wont mind getting less money to go there.

I judge the bloke on his game plan, and match day strategies as much as anything. Not so much as a comparison to Clarkson. That said, I guess in some ways I am making a comparison to good game plans, or indeed multiple game plans, to a bloke with very little imagination. For mine, his style has been found wanting time & time again. Its just my opinion, & I realize we need to be careful voicing them on the forum - ;)

Nothing wrong with that mate, I thought Freo done well this year with a poop squad, they had some impressive results but like my team, some dreadful ones to ground them.

Why? if he was sacked by Freo then he gets a termination pay. If he then goes and finds a job next week, thats a benefit to him.
