Re: (Miscellaneous debris)
R&B is not criticising the Mad Monk's 'sh!t happens' comment, only his bizzare reaction when questioned by Ch7 ... and has demonstrated a history of such behaviour.
The Afganistan comment or reference to soldiers is irrelevant to that particular aspect of the argument.

Equally is R&Bs constant reference to the death of a nine-year-old child when debating the reality of Julian Gillard's tears in Parliament is irrelevant. We are not discussion tragic circumstances, no-one can deny the huge tragedy of both these event. we are discussing the pollies reactions to these events-ok to slam Abbott for his but not Julia?- give me a break
I'm pretty sure there's a lot more to life than being really, really, ridiculously good looking. And I plan on finding out what that is.

Re: (Miscellaneous debris)
Accepted on the humany tragedy aspect ...
There's a difference between accusing someone of feigning emotion in a circumstance when most would accept that it was genuine (or virtually impossible to feign), and someone who, as a seasoned, battle hardened politician, who couldn't handle some heat from a journalist, which is basic 101 stuff.
I think both are out of their depth anyway for what it's worth ...

we are dealing with the tried and true looney left double standard routine here. Get upset when someone jabs Gillard because of her earlobes or failure to carry a handbag etc blah blah then in the next sentence label Tony Abbott as the Monk or Elephant Ears.

The case for Eugenic programmes.
I guess this is or would be a political issue if considered seriously and could go here: http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/ipad/only ... 6005179171

His comments follow economic modelling in a research paper by Oxford University ethicists Andres Sandberg and Nick Bostrom, showing that if overall IQs were raised by 3 per cent, poverty rates and the number of males in jail would both drop by 25 per cent and welfare dependence by 18 per cent. Increased intelligence would also reduce the number of parentless children by 20 per cent, the number of out-of-wedlock births by 25 per cent and the number of high school drop-outs by 28 per cent.

Still upset about personal abuse, Darth?
Still defending DV about personal abuse, MM?
By the way, DV, you posted about your dislike of Americanisms(?) corrupting our language, so what's with the constant use of the American (Bill O'Reilly) 'pinhead' expression?
By the way, I've never used those words about Tony Abbott, let alone in the next sentence, so your statement above is a non-sequitur.

MM, if the debate is about Julia Gillard's tears while she's making a speech about people dying in the floods, I fail to see how it's not relevant for me to refer her words about people dying in the floods
Do you actually read what I post. I defended Tony Abbott's comments about the soldier's death.
If he'd said to the 'journalist' that his question was out of order, I would have applauded him for it, along with the rest of the country. If he'd snotted the 'journalist', ditto
For a question that he'd had two hours notice of, though, his reaction was totally bizarre. It had nothing to do with Gillard's speech or the floods or the soldier's death.
It brought into question his suitability for the job.

I gave up on them originally, got fed up with Hendrik Gout's bias.
I stopped buying that paper too due to the same reason. The guy IMO had always been pretty fair & balanced but showed his true colours during the state election campaign.
FWIW, Gout left the IW just before the paper stopped being printed with the move to digital and no surprises is now the CoS for the Liberal Party's leader in the Legislative Council.

I'd have to see the raw data to form an opinion about any real validity!
My understanding of the genetic aspects of intelligence was that kids tended to fit between their parents in that aspect of function, but that there were a lot of difficult to explain variations.

Re: (Miscellaneous debris)
This political joke was sent to me by an old friend - a well known Adelaide Barrister:
John Howard, Queen Elizabeth, and Vladimir Putin all die and go to hell.
While there, they spy a red phone and ask what the phone is for.
The devil tells them it is for calling back to Earth.
Putin asks to call Russia and talks for 5 minutes. When he is finished the devil informs him that the cost is a million dollars, so Putin writes him a cheque.
Next Queen Elizabeth calls England and talks for 30 minutes. When she is finished the devil informs her that the cost is 6 million dollars, so she writes him a cheque.
Finally John Howard gets his turn and talks for 4 hours!. When he is finished the devil informs him that the cost is $5.00.!
When Putin hears this he goes ballistic and asks the devil why Howard got to call Australia so cheaply.
The devil smiles and replies: "Since Julia Gillard took over, the country has gone to hell, so it's a local call."

All credit to Joe Hockey for disagreeing with Scott Morrison's tirade surrounding the funerals of the asylum seekers who drowned at Christmas Island.
What sort of nation have we come to when a political party seeks to make capital out of the funerals of children.
How mean-minded does this have to get?

Re: (Miscellaneous debris)
"Scott Morrison: defending your taxpayer dollars from dead refugee children and their national bank-breaking funerals":
I don’t think we need to add much to these two excellent takedowns of Liberal frontbencher Scott Morrison’s “screw those refugees and their infant children’s funerals” splurge of today:
•Jonathan Green: Notes from parallel universes
•Greg Jericho: Morrison goes for the gutter; Abbott is gutless; Hockey steps up
I’ve been trying to avoid jumping to conclusions, but I’m beginning to suspect that Scott Morrison might not be a particularly nice man.

Yes, Gozu, I think Morrison and the Liberal Party have sunk to a new low today.
An absolute disgrace.
Meanwhile, Barnaby Joyce has written off a $90,000 government vehicle, but they've conveniently forgotten to mention this.

Re: (Miscellaneous debris)
That was truly pathetic. Politics reached an all time low in this country today. Yes. The opposition is there to oppose but to attempt political mileage from those deaths was shameful......but somehow not surprising.
