Huge signing for the Adelaide Crows.

Who does he line up for when the Crows have a full squad and no injuries? The Port Noarlunga Cockle Divers?

How many matches comprised the VFL season last year?
He's clearly a great player when on the park but I don't think he's ever played out more than half season (a full season assuming 20 matches) for a number of years. A very injury prone player.
Still, players like him a good for boosting the standard and profile of the competition.

Absolutely ridiculous this is allowed to happen.
All the traditional SANFL clubs have struggled to recruit top shelf players due to the measly salary cap and then one of the AFL aligned clubs goes bang just like this? WTF
The SANFL competition issues just continue.
Noticed the admission prices for the VFL are $10 for 2022 and some grounds are free, very interesting.
By the way is there any other sport where the Salary Cap hasn't been raised back up to where it was pre COVID or just State League Football and SANFL?

Re: SANFL 2022 Season
Freeman will become another development officer presumably or something similar off field to make sure the top up payment is well supplemented.
it's not the intention of the top up list that a mature ager who monstered the VFL last season comes along via this route.
sure, he's had injury concerns, but can obviously play to a very high level.
Just another one of those pills the SANFL clubs are meant to swallow I guess. Duldig etc you got anything to say????

Why do the SANFL still use Burleys when the AFL use Sherrins?
They've adopted the stand rule so why not the footballs too...

Sponsorship.
But I do agree with the point I think you might be trying to make.
I took a life member of the SANFL to the footy last year and he swears one of the reasons the skills can appear so poor at SANFL some times is solely due to the inferior ball we use.

Maybe, word from Oval Avenue is the lights haven't lived up to expectations.
I think that's bullshit. At the start of the last week they had only wired up two of the six towers. Two of the towers had been individually turned on to ensure the correct wiring but this had been done during the day time. It's likely the wiring will be completed early next week. Lights will be tested again for correct wiring then the tall crane will be bought in so the lamps can be adjusted and correctly positioned. Should be completed around 15-18 Feb.
The confusion might be over the lights use for night cricket. After the lights were approved the Australian cricket board changed their requirement for the intensity of lights for night cricket, the lights at Woodville Oval originally met the standards but the ACB change has made the lights unsuitable for premier league cricket, 2 day, 50/50 and 20/20. Lower grades can still play under the lights.
The lights at Woodville Oval had their final testing last night. We will have to wait for a night match to deliver the final verdict. Six light towers should give a good coverage.

Does anyone know the status of Jack Hayes at St Kilda. He is not listed on their website as a "current player"

He played the 2nd half of the trial match today. Not officially signed yet. Presume they’re leaving to the last minute in case he gets injured?

Re: SANFL 2022 Season
Pretty sure that all 8 clubs were in the black financially last year. Quite some talk about two clubs really struggling. The Land divestment payment from the league has certainly helped with the bottom line.
I hope every club remains strong and our league prospers.

Re: SANFL 2022 Season
And the two struggling are? From my outsiders view I would rule out (in no particular order) North, Sturt, Norwood, Eagles, Centrals, Glenelg and South.
That leaves just West.
That leaves just West.
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

It was inferred that We are struggling as well.
