As this is a thread for Ins and Outs, I think we can now say, thanks to the AFL:

Out: Integrity of the competition

That's one. Carlton a midfielder. Theres two. Bulldogs need a key defender that makes it three, and to top it off the crows are sitting fourth in the sanfl and draft a key forward that could quite possibly end up playing against club x. Its all going one way folks and its time the powers to be woke up and protected the sanfl before its too late.

Hate to say it, but we told you so in 2013, that was the time to act, not now.

Aye, and a slippery slope it is that we are on now.

Apologies if this has been asked before - Presuming South paid a transfer fee for McLean, do they at least get that back from Sydney or one of the leagues?

We receive nothing. Not sure that we paid a transfer fee but we have shelled out in getting him here and all that goes with that.

I also think we got nothing for Brooksby and Kreuger either as they were taken outside the draft.

If they go in the draft, the league (SANFL) gets a payment which is dispersed evenly to all clubs.

Heard Parkinson on SEN this morning, only compensation South get is McLean has to pay back any sign on or payments he has received from South.

Which is a load of shit on both fronts......

Doubt the player on base could afford that sort of hit to the finances in one go especially living in Sydney!

South picked McLean up as a key forward to replace Krueger?

Did they do their homework? It would appear not.

In 2017 he kicked 14 goals from 16 games TAC Cup

In 2018 he kicked 9 goals from 13 games. VFL

Given the SANFL prides itself on being a better comp it would appear unlikely he was going to set the world on fire in the SANFL given his history.

Hasn't Sydney have picked him up to replace a defender?

I would imagine he will spend his time running around the NEAFL.

As an aside it does not worry South when they pick a lad out of local during the year or not let them play during bye rounds at local level, they have no concern for the local league club.

Similarly local clubs give no care to other local clubs if they can recruit a player during the season to boost their playing stocks.

Has gone on forever and will continue to go on forever more.

This situation with the AFL clubs taking players at will is hardly likely to help with that problem

So South picked a dud but they lost him to an AFL club? So if South didn't do their homework what did Sydney do?

South take players from local leagues mid season? League players?

I agree he will be in their reserves.

This whole thing stinks but no one has a solution. Its money based and for South supporters to whinge about not getting a fair go is ridiculous. From a Government spend you pay $1 a year to play on the oval. Happy to be corrected if I'm wrong.

South have not nor will get anything back from the player, our choice.

IF the AFL club would like to, I am sure we would accept. They have not offered anything.
