Firstly, WOOO HOOO
Secondly, I’m sure he has trigger clauses for those final two years
Id seriously doubt players of his ilk have trigger clauses, Im sure clubs in Melbourne wouldn't have had them in their offers.
Im guessing this has taken a while as the Crows would have baulked at 5 years, but after the recent departures this signing is more about getting some stability and confidence in the club, even if it costs them a year or 2 at the end.

Exactly Dutchy. Just watched the video of the players being told in the team meeting, Sloaney gets emotional during the applause from the group. A character clubs would pay overs for to have at your club. Finally AFC has delivered us something to be proud of after a few less that perfectly handled situations.
Makes Rucci's article in this mornings paper (in short says Adelaide are trying to deal away Sloane and McGovern for early draft picks) look like it is completely made up.
If he want's to just make up stories he should be on here.
Also hearing that the Crows have got Cripps from Carlton, McGovern from West Coast and Lynch from Gold Coast. Rioli will play in 2019.

Everyone's missing the controversial part of the video - Eddie Betts is wearing the much spoken about black and gold crows beanie

Let’s pretend Sloane went and said I have a 4 year deal from a Melbourne club, and if you give me 5 I stay, and the crows said no, I would have been incredibly pissed off as a fan.
Crows have been criticised for that in the past when they only offered 1 year deals to over 30s etc.
So I’m happy to pay 1 extra year to get him here for the rest of his career

The masses need something to bag and it the 5 year deal they’ll refer too.
At the risk of repeating myself ( I will ), 4 and 5 year deals are going to become the rule, not the exception. I've been saying it since free agency was introduced, clubs will get bent over by player managers and basically be forced into much longer deals.

For blokes who will be 29 entering them, I don’t think so. For blokes who are 20-25 absolutely.
I was only telling my old man a few weeks ago it looks almost certain Sloane is leaving and the poor bugger was a bit down in the dumps especially after only recently losing Dangerfield. I suspect the Crows probably 'had' to give Sloane 5 years to keep him and if that was what it took you do it when faced with the clear rebuilding route we would've had to go down if he left.
