Funny you should mention that. I think for about the past 5 seasons I have never played that season's bottom team in a 2 day fixture. Granted 2 of those were week 1 washouts....but the other 3 were programmed 1 day fixtures.

Bit of a tough ask for West Torrens and Sturt on Sunday November 17. They play on the Saturday and then have to get to Moonta for a 10:00am start on the Sunday!! Not sure why the T20 cannot be played later in the day.

Cheers

I suggest WT ring Sturt and arrange a later start time. Although not too late as you would want to get back to Adelaide at a reasonable hour.

Would have to assume the Grade game is the curtain raiser for a latter hit?

No, all Sunday 20/20 games are scheduled for a 10am start.

Maybe they're having local games afterwards? Not a bad idea.

Reckon when they've tried to do it the other way around the country pitches are too damaged by the afternoon and there have been some low scores.

Hopefully players coming out of the wood work now that footy has finished for most people.....

Trainings have been good for us, we have had 6 players in England over the winter so they are filtering back slowly. We have also had huge numbers and pretty good quality for our C & D grade.

We have A and B grade trials v Port coming up next weekend. We will have probably 4-5 players in the Eastern Edge side that weekend so it will give a few blokes a chance to impress prior to round 1.

Perti is looking a treat, never seen it in this good nick before christmas let alone a month before the season starts.

Hows Johan's brother ;) Ant settling in Heater? you blokes been into pre season for a while now? few new faces?

Coaching Situation has been a bit of a Benny Hill saga but it has been sorted now. Head coach wasn't living in Adelaide until 2 weeks ago, our assistant was delayed by Visa problems and to top it all off a committee member informed me that there was no nets book for the seniors a week before the coach arrived!

We will be very young through out the grades with our oldest player on the list at 33 then we drop down to 28/27 year olds  Only recruit of note would be our Stirkers bloke Trent Lawford. Apparently bowled well yesterday in the trial game up in Queensland.

Still need to select a skipper. Our obvious choice might not be playing much for us anyway due to Redbacks duty. No trial games to speak of so I guess it will be internal ones or none at all.

doesnt sound ideal :? both raph and lawford played well in QLD if i remember rightly. We have been there and done that with the very young squad, can take some pain before gain but last year with the A/B both making finals showed the light at the end of the tunnel. We now have a good mix of youth and experience.

Why is this a bad thing?
He won't be able to play forever.

Is a bad thing when he is replaced by a guy 3 years older.

Fair enough if they were trying to transition to a 25yo guy who is going to be around for the next 5-10 years.

Interesting Choice, any reasons behind the decision or totally out of the blue?

Looks like a new umpire has been recruited for Grade cricket this year (looking at the photo in the following link):

Sorry, not technologically savvy enough to just print the photo here.

WT playing Sturt in a trial at Henley High from 11am next Sunday 29th Sept. Will be mostly last year's B grade in the Torrens side I'd imagine with only 1-2 A graders. Hope they pull up ok after Grand Final Day....
