Its broken cause i reckon the umps dont practice it enough anymore for health and safety reasons. too much stress on the back.

I understand Steve Hocking wanted to introduce alternate possession out of the middle like Netball.

How crap was the AFL’s response to Dissentgate in Western Sydney? Basically the umps can have different temperaments but the players can’t. AFL understandably doing their best to protect umpires, but setting them up to be the targets of even greater supporter scorn via this rule that can be ridiculously over-policed.
