Re: Round 7 - live scores , results & what's gone down.
The simple thing to do would be to have all 36 players sit down at the opening bounce. Doesn't break any rules and sends a fairly clear message that this is the only way to prevent contact.
Obviously the AFL would counter with "bring the game into disrepute" and fine both clubs.
You can't win. The clubs have joined their league and given them the power to run it as they see fit.
While everyone agrees he should get off, it's going to be hard for them to overturn the decision. What new evidence are Melbourne bringing to the table? Without any, I'm not sure they can overturn the decision?

What sort of ramifications would that hold?!

One would be a lot of respect from the football community. I think most posters on here would respect it, it would also show the players have a voice and that the mrp can not dictate what our great game should look like. Other than this, I'm outta ideas. This is just wrong though.
Respect from the football community wont pay the fine they would get.

The death penalty can never be excused as it allows a state a means by which it can pick and choose who is fit to live and who isnt

Re: Round 7 - live scores , results & what's gone down.
Latest idea doing the rounds on Twitter is for the general public to boycott round 12 and not attend games. They've suggested that in advance so that it doesn't impact anyone who's already bought tickets for the next week or two, all the bye rounds are over when total crowd numbers would be down anyway and people can make a conscious decision not to go. Not sure it will get the backing it should but if enough people get on board it may gain momentum.

Sorry bays, f*** knows how I did that. Wasn't having a go at you, was more having a dig at the AFL as that would be what they would do to Melbourne if they tried to play Viney.

Not sure what the fuss is as Viney hit him in the head, doesn't matter if its accidental or not.
I'm more pissed off with decisions in the past where players have got games when not hitting players high.
People get in such uproars when the media want them to.

Don't get me started about other crows supporters. Nothing makes me angrier than people leaving. Never left a crows game and never will.

This would cost the clubs an absolute mint as well, especially those getting crap deals at Etihad (St Kilda, Bulldogs, North etc),not sure that fans will want to disadvantage their own clubs by doing this.Frosty wrote:Latest idea doing the rounds on Twitter is for the general public to boycott round 12 and not attend games. I like the idea of all players sitting down at the opening bounce this weekend though.

shouldn't be a problem for the crows, they've been doing that for weeks...
seriously though, not a fan of the players sitting down...

Something before the bounce, like all coming together and lining up or wearing a red armband or something would be just as effective. Could get the crowd to do the same. And would get the message across without affecting crowds or the match

The AFL couldn't care less about a protest that doesn't effect crowds or the match though
It would defeat the purpose of actually protesting

Um no it wouldn't. Protest doesn't have to be disruptive, it just has to bring attention to the issue so that it gets talked about.
The AFLPA should also get involved here

I think the point that WHUFC is trying to make is the AFL couldn't care less about anything other than money so unless any action taken hurts the hip pocket they couldn't give a rats!
I tend to agree.

I agree in principle BUT its a fine line as Lynch is also in the ALF PA so its a sticky situation I guess.
Bottom line is and we all agree this must end now and changes need to be made. As the rule reads the tribunal had no choice but to rub Viney out my point being is the rule itself is F##ked up and needs to be changed ASAP.

Yeah fair enough.
Imagine if the whole crowd wore "umpire" green or something to show their dissatisfaction with the umpires. Would get the message across

The only answer is violence.
Maybe they'll sit up and take notice if we leave a pile of limbs at HQ.
