Heard Willunga have 40+ kids in their u15's? If so how are they managing that?

I'm sure they'd b managing better than teams with 15!!

And a club that has a great culture of working hard and being successful - winning finals/ grand finals across all grades.

If parents want their kids to learn football in a successful culture they come to Willunga, if not they go to McLaren

If those numbers are correct Willunga should have entered a Sunday u15 team in the SFL comp.

The wheels will turn, juniors go up to senior colts go up to senior footy, maybe its just their year, but a lot of teams go undefeated till the big Dance and then fall off the stage.. just sayin..

Helps when the local HS is at Willunga.

Also explains why Aldinga can't get a 17s team when if the four clubs in the Willunga HS catchment area they rank behind Willunga, Mclarens & Pongy!

Heard a rumour that McLaren have changed their coach any confirmation?

Steve Jacquier appointed coach at McLaren Football Club,
Mature Coach who played for Woodville and Woodville West Torrens in the eighties and nineties.
Memory is a bit rusty but would have been coached by Balme, Blight and probably Bruce Winter.
Skilful little on baller and being from Woodville, will have some pretty keen social skills.

Feel for Sterz, as he was a tremendous one on one communicator and a very calm coach. Probably a few cattle short,

Was a cracking game of contested footy.
Low scoring 1st half as both teams struggled to break free into space.
Victor flew out of the blocks at start of 3rd quarter with 3 quick goals which i thought might break the Creeks spirit but not to be denied they hung in there and kept answering the challenge.
A lot more free flowing 3rd term saw the scores tied up at 3/4 time.
Game was in the balance with about 10 minutes to go when the Creeks with maybe a little more composure were able to get on top and kick the last 3 goals to record undoubtedly their best win for the season.
Alleway threatened all day for Victor with 4 goals but the Creek overcame that by limiting his supply.
Young Creek ruckman Naylon did a fantastic job for the Hawks with many taps to advantage for them to have the better of the clearances for the day which have been the Creeks downfall in the last year or 2 in the absence of a specialist ruckman.

Umpiring - Generally think the umpiring is reasonably good in the GSFL. All players ask for is consistency. Yesterdays game i have NEVER seen so many frees paid for THROWING in a game before.
They were RED HOT on this to the point where players were almost hesitant to take the ball among opposition players as it seemed even without prior opportunity, if tackled and the ball was knocked from your possession you were pinned with throwing or incorrect disposal. Several very tough calls either way tested players temperament.
This didnt affect the result of the game and they were pretty consistent with this so players adjusted as the game went on.
This was more of an observation rather than a criticism but next match with different umpires im sure it will be a lot more relaxed.
I guess the moral of it all is that players need to quickly work umpires styles out early in a game and adjust accordingly.

Half way mark of the season and it has certainly been one of the most fascinating for many seasons.
Many teams not where many thought they would be on the table can only be healthy for the comp.
Having said that, there's no reason to expect the 2nd half of the season not to even more surprises.
Willunga one would think should finish Top
Yank are looking good for Top 3
Creeks currently 3rd have exceeded all expectations so far this season but are gonna have to keep surprising to stay there. I think they will be in a race for 4th / 5th spot with Goolwa / Pt Elliot and Victor
Mt Compass have had a slow start but are building and one would think they should do enough to finish Top 3. There huge % would suggest that
Victor along with Goolwa / Pt Elliot are certainly finals contenders and are in the mix with the Creeks for 4th / 5th spot i feel.
E Bay - 7th with 3 wins face a huge task to make up the leeway to make the 5. Guess they shouldn't be completely ruled out but ........
Myp / Sellicks, Strath (surprisingly) and McLaren all seem to be out of the running barring a miracle tho all i feel will shape the finals makeup with some upsets in the 2nd half of the season.

I reckon all 3 games might be pretty tight, SFL have got a pretty good crop of u17.5's although I notice a number picked by South's 18's but Im guessing thats the same with the GSFL.

U/15s GSFL 8 - 2 Def SFL 4 - 9

U/17s GSFL 12 - 3 Def SFL 7 - 6

Dutchy on the ball with predicting tight games with scores suggesting not a lot between the teams apart from goalkicking accuracy

Yep Junior games were both a lot tighter than the scores suggest, GSFL just much more efficient with their ball use in both games where I felt SFL had more of the ball.

One of the creek boys got BOG in the 15's JJ.

In the seniors it looked all GSFL in the first 15 mins but they couldn't convert, after that SFL took control of the game through some top notch pressure.

Matty Roberts i assume ? Very good player at everything he plays, Footy, cricket, Tennis, Table Tennis, Golf plus heaps of other sports i assume that im not aware of.
Was BOG by a MILE in last years Junior Colt GF despite only being a 1st year JC player. Scary to think if he's still playing JC next season if he doesnt go to town to play.
