I thought clubs could start training Monday 11 May. Ten players x 5 different ovals meets requirements. May 18th, 30 players can train at one oval as long as there is a strict 10 players for each third of the oval. Clubs might have to find another oval or do two shifts!!

THE SANFL will effectively operate as an amateur league this year, with players, coaches and umpires working without payment.

Competition chief executive Jake Parkinson confirmed on Sunday no club would be permitted to pay its players as part of the wider push to ensure clubs survive the global coronavirus pandemic. The only payments they will receive are from the Federal Government's $1500-a-fortnight JobKeeper package.
So players will be paying to play. Normally players have deductions taken from their payments
Not really clear. The jobkeeper payments. As most players have other work I assume the jobkeeper does not apply. So only the full time players will get it. Surely the end of the Magpies and Crows in the comp.

What if you don't have a smart phone?

So four games at Adelaide oval over 2 or 3 days (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) every weekend plus AFL (when it starts). That's going to put a lot of strain on the Adelaide oval turf.
Doubtful it would be a requirement for entry. I would be guessing that the double headers at Adelaide Oval would be for the first month or until interstate teams are allowed in. The fixture could change to home and away matches at suburban grounds after that.
Will the double headers be televised so we can get some footy fix?

I'm sure some players will get paid money under the table. Hopefully everyone will put their hand up to play and we can look forward to SANFL footy being played early June.

It was just mentioned that the 13th of June would be the earliest return to footy for us and the league is waiting on the AFL before making a return to competition date.

Are you referring to the players or the spectators?

This will open a can of worms as who will receive job keeper payments . Are we going to see double dip payments?

Unless contracted are payments payed as a HOBBY ?

I believe that you can't double dip with job keeper, so I assume that those players who are receiving job keeper from their "day job" will literally have to play for nothing.

AFL have announced no AFL listed player will play State League footy this year so that would officially end any thoughts of Crows/Port in SANFL.

Heartbreaking.

Certainly a fair bit to pan out yet... can someone like Jeff Andrews afford to come back and operate off job keeper...I fear not. Or Bastinac.. Dunno..will umps be prepared to get abused simply for the love of it? I’m not convinced all parties can come together to get a season of sorts up and running. Hope I’m wrong.. and I’ll still maintain an interest even if second string teams compete.. But a lot of hurdles need to be cleared yet..
Players win touches, Teams win matches, Clubs win Premierships.

Out of interest, anyone have a rough idea what SANFL umpires would earn from their footy contribution?

Yeah I know, I have said that for a while now and kept on saying it.

Enjoy the celebrations.

By the way yes I did actually know this would flop about AFL listed players and state league players, no it's not a football source but a health source. The Advice to the AFL on this matter was basically the most obvious thing you could imagine.

Basically state league players have jobs right, they aren't isolated right, generally won't be living in a bubble the AFL boys.....yep it was clear that the thing that defined these AFL sides will be the thing that keeps them out of the SANFL this season.

Looks like none of the AFL listed players will be allowed to play in lower league competitions. Seems strange that 20 odd players in our 2 AFL clubs may not get a chance to play this year, Not even their original clubs.
