Carey - A must do place to check out in Chewang/Koh Samui is the Islander Bar. My #1 pub on the Island. Cold, no very cold beer, good pub grub, sport on multiple screens. Heaps of sports memorabilia on the walls, friendly staff, run by a Pommie Bloke. Right on the main drag about half way down, you can't miss the place.

Islander is good. Just don't sit too close to the road because the kids who sell on the streets don't leave you alone. It's funny the first time they are cheeky to you but after coming back 15 times I wanted to flog the little shit.

Scandic Grill and Bar is one of the best Pizzas I've ever had anywhere.

I was a fan of the Football Golf. For stuff all cash it was a great way to spend the afternoon.

I've still got the music and advertisements from the back of the trucks in my head...

Thinking of a few ideas for April. The missus and I are heading away for 8-9 days and tossing up some locations;

*Phuket 8 nights, Singapore 1 night
*Hua Hin 6 nights, Bangkok 2 nights and Singapore 1 night.
*Bali 8 nights, Singapore 1 night
*Ho Chi Minh 8 nights, Singapore 1 night.

Singapore 1 night is a certainty as we will be getting the 7am day flight through Melbourne and back in to Adelaide by 8pm. Would rather do that then fly overnight and be stuffed for a week on our return.
Singapore Airlines is a must too, love the airline after our last experience and prices aren't too bad.

Only once to Kata but as I said there is two parts to it.
Great place to chill but not party central which is what I've wanted in trips since.
Have you been mate? What were your experiences there? I encourage people to exchange experiences in here as it can be helpful to others.

Staying at Kata Sea Breeze right near Kata Village and Kata Beach.

Cool thats the Northern Kata (Kata Yai), thats the one I prefer as theres beautiful sunsets with an island in the view. A bit closer to the action than the southern kata beach (Kata Noi). the southern Kata Beach is a bit too secluded for me. I stayed just south of you on the beachfront at the Kata Beach Resort, you'll walk past it if you go up to Mama Tris for a meal. A beutiful spot I always mean to get back to but I always get stuck in Patong lol
Only downside I found there was when we went on day trips we were always the first to be picked up and last to be dropped off.
You'll have a ball mate.

Scoopon has 8 nights at Kata Sea Breeze ( with pool access room ) for $650 including breakfast for 2 adults and 2 children ( none coming with us ).

Great place to chill and only a 15 minute tuk tuk to party central. Theres lots of laid back bars around where you'll be saying and not as sleezy as a lot you find in Patong. If your missus wants to shop but you're not that keen on Patong then head to Karon Beach which is the next beach north by Tuk Tuk as they have some good smaller markets.

It is nice, like a cross between Kata and Patong. We stayed in a 6 star private residence on the Esplanade which was part of the Movenpick Resort.
Weird though. As much as I loved these places and Nai Yang near the airport I've only ever gone to Patong since my first two trips.

Heading to Thailand around April. Was just wondering what are some activities the SAFooty faithful recommend to do over there? At the moment we have a cruise and snorkel booked in and maybe a flying fox activity. What has anyone done over there in the past they highly enjoyed? Apart form the lady boys
