Geez Jim that's rough. You don't off your dad (unless it was for personal gain, which it wasn't) for the sake of it. Hes a schizophrenic, which means he couldn't be found guilty of murder.
As long as he keeps his meds up he won't present a danger. I'm sure there will still be passive supervision taking place.

And that’s the problem. Too many outs for mental issues. He is a murderer and deserves not to see the light of day ever again.
For your sake I hope either yourself or a loved one does not suffer a mental illness Jim and one things for sure, you might change your opinion should you do.

You also cant just go off your meds and be a serious risk of murdering people either.
Isn't it funny how we view elements of risk on life. We can lockdown millions of people to ensure the safety of others but in other circumstances we cant lockdown one to ensure the safety of others.
Can lock down millions at the threat of a virus Cant lock down one whose a threat of murdering.

Jim, you can't fake schizophrenia mate.
Not saying you can but you don’t deserve to be free amongst the general public if you kill someone regardless of mental issues. Lock them up and throw away the key

Nope, a murderer is a murderer
It's 2021 you know?
And? If he re-offends every single person responsible for his release should see life time sentences too

Hillside Strangler Kenneth Bianchi tried to do just that but failed.

Agree. We all need to learn more about mental illnesses but keep a mental murderer where they belong.
There are no stupid questions, just stupid people.

Like I said he will be monitored for the rest of his life most probably. They won't just release him without being monitored. He's not cured, just managing his symptoms.

At what expense both financial and resource wise to the community.

What's your alternative? Put a bullet into him like someone else said?

Keep him in priosn, I wonder how that compares to the cost of monitoring him.
In saying that he hurts one person whilst out in the community and the cost of prison is justified.
