Keep us posted, my knee is held together with sticky tape and the replacement is looming quickly!gadj1976 wrote:I know it's only early but.... I had knee replacement surgery yesterday and early signs are good. Walked maybe 20 steps with a zimmer frame and was able to have a shower. Now the hard part begins - coming off the spinal block and into 'reality' then home on Thursday and fending for myself (to an extent)
Hope it all goes well mate!gadj1976 wrote:I know it's only early but.... I had knee replacement surgery yesterday and early signs are good. Same, both of mine are knackered but I’m holding off for as long as I can, wenchbarwer wrote:Keep us posted, my knee is held together with sticky tape and the replacement is looming quickly!gadj1976 wrote:I know it's only early but.... I've been getting these injections that can last for up to 12 months, they act as the buffer for the replacement. Last one hasn't worked as well as the previous ones so I think my time might be nearly up...dedja wrote:Same, both of mine are knackered but I’m holding off for as long as I can, wenchbarwer wrote:Keep us posted, my knee is held together with sticky tape and the replacement is looming quickly!gadj1976 wrote:I know it's only early but.... Same, mine are half shagged but I reckon they're gonna out live a few of my organs so I'll just see how we go.dedja wrote:Same, both of mine are knackered but I’m holding off for as long as I can, wenchbarwer wrote:Keep us posted, my knee is held together with sticky tape and the replacement is looming quickly!gadj1976 wrote:I know it's only early but.... Thanks. My missus is a Physio, specialising in laser treatment, which has helped heaps.wenchbarwer wrote:I've been getting these injections that can last for up to 12 months, they act as the buffer for the replacement. Everyone I speak to says "why did I hold on so long to get it done?" Few proviso's in that, cost, waiting lists, private health, self employment/time off etc, etc.dedja wrote:Same, both of mine are knackered but I’m holding off for as long as I can, wenchbarwer wrote:Keep us posted, my knee is held together with sticky tape and the replacement is looming quickly!gadj1976 wrote:I know it's only early but.... I had Euflexa injections mid last year and they assisted but were never a permanent fix. It was inevitable that I'd finish up here and I really think if I didn't have to wait for a lull in work and the 12 month embargo on private health insurance, I would've done this earlier as the last few months have really been a struggle.dedja wrote:Mine were really bad about 5 years ago and nearly had them done then. I was in constant pain, any activity (bending, squatting, walking up/down steps, ladders, etc) and they would swell up and take days to settle down.
The laser therapy from the missus really helped. The osteoarthritis is just as bad, but I’m not in constant pain, and can do things (within reason). If I overdo it, they are sore that night but are OK the next day.
As such, I’ve decided to put up with them for a little while more. Once they start affecting me again as before, then it’s time.
Will leave it to others who have had it done to specify what theirs were, but generally it’s a lottery, dependent on what your health insurance will cover, the agreement they have with the hospital and the surgeon. Then there’s anaesthetics, which usually have a gap.Dutchy wrote:What is the approx out of pocket cost for a replacement?
